Further Renteria thoughts/info

... In short, he’s at the top of the list in per game runs created. He did have an injured ankle this season, costing him some games.
He concluded earlier:
So this was a big trade, one of the biggest prospect for veteran trades the Tigers have made in recent memory. If Renteria helps them get into the playoffs the next couple of years, it will probably be worth it. It could also come back to really bite them though.
And then there’s Bilfer, who I think echos all our feelings right now:

The first stop is The Detroit Tigers Weblog (no affiliation with the actual Detroit Tigers). I really like how he feels about the two prospects they traded away. Hopefully this reassures some Braves fans that we got a good return for Rents (and it may remind many of us how we felt after the Teixeira trade): ...
How About Curt Schilling For One Year?
Published 10/31/2007 by Ian Casselberry <info@blessyouboys.com> at Bless You Boys: Front Page Posts
There's already a growing concern that the Detroit Tigers are skewing a little too far toward the old side after trading for Edgar Renteria. That's not going to change if - as expected - the team re-signs Kenny Rogers and Todd Jones in the off-season. ...
Tigers transformation to Marlins is almost complete

... I don’t mind giving up prospects for a proven commodity. The current depth in the Tigers system allows for that trade-off. However, in this instance, I do at least slightly mind giving up Jurrjens and Hernandez for Renteria. According to Bill at The Detroit Tigers Weblog, the Tigers picked up 2 to 2.5 wins by essentially replacing Guillen’s defense and Sean Casey’s bat with Renteria. Two wins isn’t anything to scoff at but given Renteria’s unreliability from year to year, a two-win improvement is no guarantee. Plus, it’s not like the Braves had all the leverage in this deal and ...
