Report: Jim Schwartz the Front Runner to Succeed Joe Gibbs as Redskins Coach
FanHouse — Filed under: Redskins, Titans, NFL Coaching, Washington, DC, NashvilleAlthough the early names that came up as the Redskins' next coach after Joe Gibbs announced his retirement were the ones you would expect -- Bill Cowher and Gregg Williams -- a new name has emerged as the apparent front runner. Tom Curran of NBC Sports reports that Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is the favorite for the job after an impressive interview with the Redskins' brass. It's easy to see why Schwartz would impress Redskins owner Dan Snyder: He's smart, he's well spoken, he probably understands the use of statistical analysis better than any other coach in the NFL, and he coordinated a Titans defense that was one of the best in the league ...

Titans’ Defensive Coordinator Schwartz Frontrunner for ‘Skins Job
Football Outsiders Titans’ Defensive Coordinator Schwartz Frontrunner for ‘Skins Job As soon as Joe Gibbs announced his retirement, the talk immediately turned to Bill Cowher and what it would take to get him to DC. But Jim Schwartz is one of the under-the-radar hot young coaching prospects, and according to NBCSports.com’s Tom Curran, the Titans defensive coordinator blew away the Redskins in his interview. Schwartz seems like a good fit in Washington, but he’s also scheduled to meet with the Falcons and Dolphins next week. posted 1-10-2008 at 9:41 PM by ...

Schwartz back in the picture?
Tandler's Redskins Blog — A friend of a relative has an old college buddy who knows a guy who knows Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and he says that Schwartz is coming into town this weekend for another round of interviews. Actually, the source of this information isn’t quite that convoluted, but it’s just as much hearsay. I’m only passing it along because it would be a logical next step for Dan Snyder and the Redskins to take along the long and winding road that the coaching search has become. Of course “logic” and “Snyder” and “coaching search” don’t necessarily belong in the same sentence, so there is that caveat as well. Schwartz, as you may recall, was described as the frontrunner in an NBCSports.com article shortly after the ...
