Charles Barkley, desperately needs to stick to what he does best, make the same simple and funny comments about NBA basketball games.

He took the liberty last night to show how classless he can be by injecting his opinion on Derek Fisher’s decision to move to LA in order for his daughter to receive the best possible treatment for her life threatening cancer and to become a Laker again.

Unbelievably, Barkley continually referred to some form of the following statements:
    1. They have doctors in other cities: Seattle, Miami etc.
    2. Derek wanted to move to L.A.
    3. Derek should not take the boos and negative responses from the Utah fans personally

His comments solidify why people think athletes are dumb and ironically his asinine remarks had nothing to do with academics just an absolute lack of decency for one of his brethren and mind you a class guy from head to toe. He showed his callousness and out of control stupidity by embracing and defending the deep ugliness that the rabid Utah fans so disgracefully exhibited. According to Barkley the fans actions were justified because Fisher went to a rival, it just does not seem possible that he and the fans think a game takes precedence over a little girls life.

Obviously Barkley and seemingly most Utah fans believe winning freakin basketball games is more important than Derek Fisher’s daughter’s precious life. I can’t imagine how utterly bewildered and embarrassed the Utah Jazz organization is for the reprehensible conduct of those who once cheered Derek him but now booed him for making a life decision for his family. The Jazz did the honorable thing buy releasing him from his contract to seek the best medical attention for his daughter’s life only to be disgraced by their fans and in an abstract way Barkley as well.

In an effort to make his point about Derek wanting to be a Laker, Barkley made light of the grave danger the Fisher family faced by continually saying they have doctors in different cities. By doing so he made it seem like any ole doctor would be good enough for the Fisher’s. The Fisher’s are blessed with the ability to afford stellar medical attention and for Charles to insinuate that any doctor will do is insensitive, idiotic and just plain wrong.

How could Derek or any other decent person not take what happened to him personally? Even for those without children, all you have to do is put yourself in the Fisher’s shoes to realize the immense hurt and frustration they are feeling now. Their pain will not go away soon however, through time and the outpouring of love they will so rightfully get, it will be all good one day.

I wise man once told me to never take anyone past a sincere apology. Consequently, I hope and pray that Charles will publically and more importantly privately apologize to the entire Fisher family. And, if tears are not uncontrollably flowing from his eyes when he looks into Derek’s daughters eyes his apology will be absolutely unacceptable just like the comments he made last night.
