TOP 10 THINGS TO MISS ABOUT THE SPECTRUM
by DMtShooter , Five Tool Tool The home of the Philadelphia Flyers and Sixers (in that the place was owned by the Flyers' owner, and the Sixers were always second-class citizens), as well as a million treble-tastic concerts, is being torn down to make way for shops, restaurants, and the destruction of any illusion that I'm not older than dirt. Here's a list of what I will miss most about ... [link]

well, Philly does it again!...instead of making the Spectrum into a sports hall of fame (how cool would that be??!!!), they are tearing down the building that put hockey on the map in the City of Brotherly Love. I will miss the memories of seeing my first NHL game with my dad (Bruins/Flyers 1974-75 preseason opener), memories of Reggie Leach shooting a little high on Ken Dryden and the puck smashing into the glass at eye level (some shot Reggie!!!)....I grew up and played on a team with #27 in the mid 1980's...still one heck of a shooter!!! The inspiration of the art of goaltending from the man behind the mask (#1, Bernie Parent), which led me to an amateur passion for stopping flying rubber pucks ..... the penalty filled Bruins game following the exhibition game with writer turned goalie George Plimpton...and of course " the check hear around the world" vs the Soviet red Army team with Vlad Tretiak....the all too short career of Pelle Lindbergh, and the explosive career of Ron Hextall...all inspired me to play in between the posts.

    bye bye memories!

bummer Philly, a city sports hall of fame would have been a really cool thing to do with the Spectrum.... you lose again...

Clippers Acquire Marcus Camby

The Los Angeles Clippers made a move to help sure up their front line after the loss of Elton Brand to the Sixers just a few days ago.
