Top NFL Draft Tight Ends: Notre Dame’s John Carlson Can Catch
Carlson probably doesn’t get enough credit for his receiving ability; he just may be the best receiver in the class. He’s also a powerful blocker. As the complete Tight End, Carlson probably deserves to go in round one, but teams are wary of Tight Ends ever since Vernon Davis got taken with the sixth pick and hasn’t produced. [link]

Seahawks 2nd Round Pick: John Carlson

Poured into the blue, indeed. John Carlson Here's my earlier scouting report. I don't think Carlson will set anyone's heart on fire, but he's a very solid tight end with almost no downside. Day one contributor, I don't think this is the best ...

John Carlson and Trevor Laws Find Homes By the Middle Of Round Two
While I was optimistic they maybe could creep into the end of the first round, the two most heralded Irish prospects going into this draft were off the board by midway into the second round. If you could survive all the inane yammering from the experts, a speedy but rather anti-climatic first day cruised right by. John Carlson was taken at 38, the seventh pick in the second, by the Seattle ...

Day 1 Recap
Okay... suffice it to say that the draft went a little different than anyone expected. Yes, they traded down like HogsHaven reader Dr WNC (and my fellow blogger Skin Patrol) wanted, but after that it took a different turn. But first, meet your newest Washington Redskins : WR Devin Thomas , Michigan State TE Fred Davis , Southern Cal WR Malcolm Kelly , Oklahoma Thomas was probably ...

Earlier this off-season the Seattle Seahawks signed former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones and Saturday they picked former tight end John Carlson #38 overall. Carlson fills obvious need for Seattle
Posted by ESPN.com's Mike Sando The Seahawks went into the draft without a starting tight end. They took defensive end Lawrence Jackson late in the first round, then landed Notre Dame tight end John Carlson after trading up in the second. Seattle has done well moving up in the second to address positions of need. That's what the Seahawks did in 2005 when they moved up to take USC's Lofa ...
Vikings Interested In Taking TE or OL
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press , after trading for Jared Allen, losing their first and both third round picks, the Vikings will go with an offensive lineman or tight end in the second round. The article lists John Carlson and Fred Davis as possible options at tight end. While I really like Davis, he’ll probably be gone by the time the Vikings pick at number forty-seven. ...
Are You Smarter Than an NFL Draftee?
Since the NFL Draft is a little over 24 hours away, I overlooked something when I wrote about Notre Dame's four draftee candidates, the WONDERLIC Test! Ah yes, the NFL's version of 2+2. So who did the Irish fare on the test? John Carlson led the bunch with a score of 40, while John Sullivan had a 35, Trevor Laws 30, and Tom Zbikowski 29.
