From Ken Davidoff, with a tip of the cap to River Ave Blues: Bob Sheppard, the Yankees' venerable public address announcer, recently signed a two-year extension. While he probably won't be ready for Opening Day -- last October's case of pneumonia took a great deal out of him -- Shepherd, believed to be 97, should return about two months into the regular season. There were reports earlier this month that Sheppard was struggling and that he possibly wouldn't be able to return to Yankee Stadium this season, ...

While he probably won’t be ready for Opening Day — last October’s case of pneumonia took a great deal out of him — Shepherd, believed to be 97, should return about two months into the regular season.
Nice piece of news. Let’s hope Bob’s health is good for the opening of the new Yankee Stadium in 2009.

... Some douche in New York thinks the Jays "could compete in the AL East." I know it's irritating as fuck when Canadians bitch about how Americans don't know anything about our country, but this is just ridiculous. Yes, fuckface, they compete in the AL East. ...
