... Total Zone I have created a new defensive measure using retrosheet event files. I look at how many plays a fielder makes in comparisons to how many hits land in his general direction, then control for park, batter hand, and a few other things. For recent years (2003-2006) retrosheet does not have detailed hit location, so I m treating each outfield and infield spot as one big zone.
