Touching moment at Verizon Center today - Wizards Insider
I've been doing this sports reporter thing now for a decade. Other than a brief, post-college stint as a tutor/mentor in the Mpls. public school system and a night gig as a bartender, I've pretty much covered games, written stories and generally been around sports for the last 10 years. I love this job.

Wednesday's BLINKS
Fan Voice: Recent Topics in The Court Reporters: The NBA.com Blog — ... Way too often for my liking, off the court stories about NBA players revolve around something negative. With the holiday season in full swing, it is always nice to read about players giving back. Here is the perfect example of what I'm talking about. Ivan Carter of the Washington Post checks in with a great story . I can't speak for you, but it brought a smile to my face. While it wasn't exactly Michael Jordan battling a case of food poisoning compounded by flu-like symptoms to lead Chicago past Utah in Game 5 of the 1997 Finals, Kobe Bryant deserves props for ...

Nice Guys Finish First
My Swog is Phenomenal — I had actually been pondering doing a "the Wizards are awesome off the court as well as on the court" piece. I thought it would be a nice addition to the early days of this blog. However, after reading this post over at Wizards Insider (by Ivan Carter), I'd say most of the work is pretty much done. I'm not even gonna quote it, go read the whole thing.

Truth About It - Washington Wizards Blog — ... I haven't been to every game, but Washington Wizards home fans have been crappy this year. But you know what? I'll trade all that in for a W. And it is comforting to know that the Wizards at least have heart without their superstar, Gilbert Arenas. Can't say the same for Cleveland....0-3 without LBJ. Time to make it 0-4. Before the game....catching up on some Wizards links... >> A post on Wizards Insider by Ivan Carter that we all need to read and remember. ...

Preview: Mavs @ Spurs
mvn.com 12/5/2007 — Even though the Spurs won’t have Duncan and possibly Ginobili, the Mavs can’t treat this game like they did against the Wizards when they were blown out despite Washington not having Gilbert Arenas. A win over the Duncan-less Spurs would prove nothing and be somewhat empty and bittersweet, but a loss would be pretty embarassing. I think Dallas gets up for this game, as they always do.

Team Wiz Buries Cavs
mvn.com 12/6/2007 — When the Pistons won the NBA title back in 2004, they did so as a team. They did not have a superstar, just a bunch of guys that played well together and brought out each other’s best. I’m not saying this Wizards team is an NBA title contender, but they are starting to build something.
