Countdown To Fun With The T-Mac Injury Ticker [NBA]
Deadspin —
It's safe to say that the the Houston Chronicle has about had it with Tracy McGrady. These are tough financial times, the newspaper figures, so why is the Houston Rockets' star being paid so much dough for sitting in the whirlpool? The Chronicle explores the journalistic no-man's land between impartial reporting and the opinion page with their new, fun graphic: The T-Mac Injury Ticker. Now, readers of the paper's online Rockets' home page (I presume that it's in the print edition as well) can keep track at a glance of games missed and cost incurred during McGrady's lengthy knee injury hiatus. McGrady has said that he may stay out until Christmas to rest his knee, so this is just starting to get interesting. ...

ESPN.com - TrueHoop —
The Houston Chronicle is sticking it to Tracy McGrady. TrueHoop reader Brennan makes a really interesting point, which I'll paraphrase. We have all seen this a thousand times. Two opponents are chasing a ball as it heads out of bounds. One leaps for the ball, as the other steps out of bounds. The leaper gets the ball, and throws it off the other guy, who is by this time undeniably off the active playing surface. The referee then awards the leaper's team the ball, and in general I think I understand why. But consider this: What if the leaper had thrown the ball off something else that was out of bounds? What if he had thrown it off some broadcaster, a coach, or a large bucket of sport ...
The 10-man rotation, where our thoughts go out to Rogers
Ball Don't Lie —
A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out. C: The News & Observer. Former NBAer Rodney Rogers — he of one of the greatest comebacks ever — fell off an ATV last week and suffered a spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Get better, Rodney. PF: FanIQ. The Houston Chronicle is not a fan of Tracy McGrady. SF: The Good Point. An open, heartfelt letter to Greg Oden's neck ...
Sports Ticker Fun With Tracy McGrady
Intentional Foul —
As pointed out by 100%InjuryRate over at FanIQ, it appears as if the Houston media isn’t too pleased with Tracy McGrady’s decision to take the next few weeks off so he can rest his surgically-repaired knee.
While the Houston Chronicle’s position is understandable, their use of a sports ticker detailing McGrady’s absence is what makes this story click for me. It’s a funny, if not slightly petty look at T-Mac’s contributions to the Rockets this season, complete with a link to an verbal lashing of McGrady from Richard “Buford T” Justice.
Oddly enough, even though Justice is disappointed in McGrady’s handling of ...
Houston Paper Backtracks on McGrady Snark
FanHouse —
by Tom Ziller Filed under: Rockets, NBA Injuries, NBA Media WatchA Houston Chronicle web feature -- the Tracy McGrady Injury Ticker, pictured below -- received a good deal of attention Thursday as bloggers and fans expressed amusement or scorn at the cutting snark presented by H-Town's biggest media entity. The screenshot's via Deadspin, and FanIQ originally noticed the feature. Unsurprisingly, the ticker (seen here in live glory) has been modified, with the note about how much money McGrady has earned on the bench removed. The whole thing's a case of a newspaper trying to be cute and bloggy, but it just ...

Lakers @ Wizards: Washington has to battle not just a championship-caliber squad tonight, but their rather vocal fans, too.
“We need to give a good performance so that the vast majority of people in our colors are yelling loud enough that they are drowning out those people in the purple and gold,” said Wizards Coach Ed Tapscott, a Washington native.
“So it’s on us to recognize that the vast majority of people will be Wizards fans.”
Portland @ Boston: The what-if game? My guess is that the Celtics don’t have too many regrets about ...
