Baseball Today: Friday, May 9

... ALL JOBA, ALL THE TIME: No matter what, every Yankee game seems to revolve around Joba Chamberlain. The other night he was despondent after surrendering a game-losing home run to David Dellucci. Yesterday he was jubilant (right) after striking out Dellucci in a key spot. But unlike Frank Thomas, who seemed unruffled by Chamberlain's normal post-K histrionics last month, Dellucci was fuming; he all but called Chamberlain a bush-leaguer and noted, "My home run (off Chamberlain) was in a much bigger situation, more a key part of the game and I didn't dance around ...

Wednesday, May 7: Today: NYDN: Two nights ago, Indians outfielder David Dellucci pinch-hit a go-ahead three-run homer off Joba Chamberlain. After giving up that shot, the 22-year-old reliever bent over, avoided watching the runners score and otherwise appeared upset. Thursday was a different scene in the Yankees' 6-3 win over Cleveland at the Stadium. Chamberlain screamed and pumped his fists three times in celebration as he spun off the mound after striking out Dellucci to end a three-batter eighth inning. ...

Dellucci unhappy with Joba’s antics during Yankees’ victory over Indians

Dellucci unhappy with Joba’s antics during Yankees’ victory over Indians Nice poll on the side also… How do you feel about Joba Chamberlain’s fist-pumping antics? --I like them - he’s a fiery competitor --I don’t like them - he needs to grow up --I hate them - hot-dogging at its worst --I love them - just added Doctor Tushy to my favorites! Dellucci was not amused by Chamberlain’s antics. “That’s what gets him going and that’s what everybody likes to see, but if a hitter was to do something like that they’d probably say it was ‘bush (league)’ and you shouldn’t do it,” ...

Reason for optimism, but Yanks need baserunners

... today, Moose is truly doing his job , and doing exactly what he needs to do for the Yanks to win. Joe Girardi credited Johnny Damon 's home run to leadoff the fourth inning with snapping the Yanks out of their run-scoring funk. The Yanks displayed their power yesterday, writes Brian Heyman . Joba Chamberlain also came in to get his revenge on David Dellucci yesterday. Of course, Joba was a little excited after striking him out , and after the game Dellucci called Joba out . But Dellucci's complaints aside , as fans it's ...

... There, I said it. What am I talking about? The whining by the Indians (and others) about Joba's fist pump/yell after he struck out Dellucci yesterday. Big deal. It wasn't doing it in his (Dellucci's face). He turned and let out a bellow of excitement after an important out. Two days after the same Dellucci cranked a 3 run HR off Joba. ...

... Shockingly, it looks like not everyone is as receptive to Joba Chamberlain's exuberance as Frank Thomas was: “That’s what gets him going and that’s what everybody likes to see, but if a hitter was to do something like that they’d probably say it was ‘bush (league)’ and you shouldn’t do it,” Dellucci said. “It’s kind of funny how a pitcher can get away with it.” ..."It’s no disrespect to the hitter,” Chamberlain said. “It’s no disrespect to the game. Typical Yankee B.S.

So the latest crap to come out of New York is the act Joba Chamberlain does when he strikes a guy out in the 8th inning.  I have noticed this act he pulls since last year, funny he did not behave like such an *** when he was in the minors.  Note to self Joba, you are a "set up" guy.  Which is not like being a closer, you are not a closer, more like a poser.  There is a whole other inning of work to be done, despite your herculean efforts to do your job, which is to pitch one lousy inning of 8th inning basball.  Joba and his stupid ...

Don't mess with Joba

After taking Joba Chamberlain deep on Tuesday to give the Indians a 5-3 lead, David Dellucci struck out on a nasty slider to end the eighth inning Thursday afternoon, prompting the pictured reaction. This was Chamberlain's first appearance since that outing, and, for at least today, he didn't show that it bothered him. He didn't walk anyone and three all but three pitches for strikes.

It was bound to happen

No matter how good you are, walks will kill you. Joba Chamberlain learned that lesson tonight, as he gave up the go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning. The three runs were the first he's allowed at Yankee Stadium in his career. He walked two batters in the ninth inning before allowing the pinch-hit home run to ex-Yankee David Dellucci .

Dellucci Trumps the Midges

While any battle between New York flamethrower Joba Chamberlain and the Indians will likely entail a discussion of the pests that swarmed the reliever during last season’s playoffs, David Dellucci did his best to put a little baseball back into the mix. Dellucci’s pinch-hit home...
