Report: Rays Close to Dealing Young
Published 11/28/2007 by R.J. Anderson <info@draysbay.com> at DRaysBay: Front Page Posts
... Per the Star Tribune Wow. This one will not be received well, a look at VORP: Rincon + Garza + Bartlett = 26 Young + Harris (w/Pridie) = 31 Pridie and Harris to me aren't huge losses, Brendan would've been our first man off the bench, Pridie is meh to me as we all know. Delmon, well he never had good plate discpline or awareness, he has great potential and one helluva an arm. He will be missed. As for the new Rays; Rincon is a late inning, only 28, but his HR/9 took a huge leap last year and his K rates have dropped four straight seasons, but prior to ...

Twins swinging a blockbuster
Published 11/28/2007 by Ryan at The Victoria Times
According to La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Twins are very close to completing a blockbuster deal that would send Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett and Juan Rincon to the Tampa Bay Rays for Delmon Young, Brandon Harris and Jason Pridie. I like the deal for a few reasons. First, it signals a shift in the demands for Johan Santana, namely, they don't need an outfielder anymore, instead needing an infielder. Either the Yankees have to step up their offer, including Robinson Cano AND a top pitcher, or it's not going to happen. The Angels and Dodgers now become ...

Performances in the International League at the age of 20
Published 11/28/2007 by ubelmann at The WGOM
I don't especially like the sounds of this , but I'm willing to keep an open mind until I look into things with more detail. Nothing's offical yet, but this seems like a credible rumor to me. The biggest thing that Delmon Young has going for him, as far as I can tell, is that he's been really young while putting up good numbers in the minors. Last year Young had a 91 OPS+ as a corner outfielder, which was not an especially valuable performance. Any chances of Young being a star depend on him vastly improving upon that performance and/or being able to capably play CF. (And I am ...
