Immediately after the fight, Penn suggested he might go up a weight class to take on welterweight champion George St. Pierre, scheduled to headline UFC 87 in Minnesota . This, combined with the promos for the WEC featherweight championship fight on June 1, got me thinking that Sherk should seriously consider dropping down to 145. A heavyweight tilt between Cheick Kongo (11-4-2) and UFC newcomer Dan Evensen (10-2), a very intriguing lightweight bout between Frankie Edgar (8-1) and Hermes Franca (18-6) and two welterweight fights featuring Chris Wilson (13-4) vs. Steve Bruno (11-3) and Ben Saunders (5-0-2) vs. Jared Rollins (6-4). A welterweight encounter between Luke Cummo vs. Tamdan McCorry has officially been added to UFC 87: Seek and Destroy on August 9, according to UFC.com . Cummo, 6-5 lifetime, according to Sherdog’s fight finder, gained great notoriety for his appearance during the second season of “The Ultimate Fighter ,” where he fought and lost to Joe Stevenson in the finals of the welterweight tournament. Cummo, who is 3-3 lifetime in the UFC , last fought in March at UFC 82 , where he lost to retired Marine Luigi Fioravanti via unanimous decision.
