 UM's Mallett planning to transfer
Rich Rodriguez's tenure as the head football coach at the University of Michigan is only in its second day, but he may have already lost one of the Wolverines. There is speculation out of Ann Arbor that freshman quarterback Ryan Mallett has decided to leave Michigan and will transfer to UCLA, according to a person close to the team. [link]

Is Ryan Mallett staying or going?
Published 1/3/2008 by NDub at Construda
The Toledo Blade is reporting today that Michigan's freshman quarterback Ryan Mallett will transfer to UCLA . The newspaper cited "a person close to the team" as its source. Michigan associate athletic director Bruce Madej said no transfer paperwork has crossed his desk and as far as he knows, the 2006 Rivals No. 2 recruit, Mallett, is still enrolled at Michigan. "He came back with us, so I just saw him yesterday," Madej said. "He was talking with the guys about seeing them next week." Mallett told The Blade on Dec. 26 that he wanted to remain with the Wolverines. As you ...

... Moving on, looks like the bad rumor is turning into bad news in Ann Arbor as Ryan Mallett is planning to transfer to UCLA. That whole Terrelle Pryor siutation really escalated quickly. Now, the Wolverines are looking down the barrell of a gun if he doesn't show up. As reputable as the Toledo Blade may be, this seems a bit rash considering Rich Rodriguez probably hasn't even had a chance to speak to him, let alone discuss the future in any detail. I do respect the good folks of Toledo for naming their paper something a little more unique than gazette, tribute, or herald. It ...

Terelle Pryor, Step Away From The Michigan Hat
Published 1/5/2008 by The Sports Diva at TSD Magazine
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is on today right before the NFL playoffs start. And yes with the NFL playoffs, anything can happen. But the one thing I'm thinking about today is how the Toledo Blade reported on Thursday that Ryan Mallett, QB for Michigan, has decided to transfer to UCLA next season . NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I'm freaking out a little bit over this. It's not that I want so badly for Terelle Pryor to be a Buckeye (who was the last high profile QB at Ohio State?). I want SO BADLY for Terelle Pryor to not be a Wolverine. He can go to Florida. He can go to Penn State. He ...

Okay. Yesterday the Blade started a kerfuffle about a potential Mallett transfer; the Freep then shot that down by talking to his mom. Let Mallett, Abandoned College Football Players Transfer
I feel bad for Ryan Mallett.  He made a four-year commitment to Lloyd Carr, just like Pat White made a long-term commitment to Rich Rodriguez.  Now both quarterbacks, along with numerous other players throughout the country, have had their football careers drastically altered by the whims of a head coach, administration or booster club. We hold teenagers to a higher standard of ...
