Well, college football's final weekend before bowl season sure settled the discussion, didn't it? West Virginia and Missouri didn't win, thus they're out of the national championship game. LSU will play Ohio State for the national championship. Hawaii gets a BCS game . Here's the entire bowl schedule . Mike Lopresti isn't all that upset by how the BCS turned out . Check out how the coaches voted in the final USA TODAY poll. And boy, ABC/ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit sure was wrong about the whole Les Miles to Michigan deal. In ...
Picking Apart the Coaches Poll: Make Sure to Vote Your Conference High

... Normally we pick apart the AP Pollsters, but now that the coaches have given some transparency to their final ballot of the season we'll surely find fault with the poll having an inpact on the BCS. ...
Inside the Football Coaches' Poll

Inside the Football Coaches' Poll Still waiting for Las Vegas Sports Consultants' final Top 30 rankings of the season.....very, very, very curiously waiting. In the meantime, Post college football scribe Adam Kilgore just threw himself, literally, into the nitty gritty of the Coaches' Poll. Yes, I'm saying he lifted up his body and slammed it into a paper copy of the poll. You can look at every ballot right here ; what follows is Kilgore's analysis. Any mistakes in the analysis are his. The main point is this: I run a ridiculous local college basketball poll that means ...

... In retrospect, it's probably a good thing that this didn't go down because I doubt my family would have approved of me spending my entire Christmas morning watching the same 30 second clip of a football game that I'd spent that past 25 days watching. USA Today has released the ballots of each voter for the final coaches poll, and you absolutely must check out what went down. Bob Stoops - who said on ESPN that he voted Oklahoma second and LSU third - actually voted his Sooners number one and the Tigers...SIXTH. Frank Beamer voted LSU one, his Virginia Tech team ...

Final Coaches' Poll Breakdown
Published 12/4/2007 by Phillips at Rumors and Rants
... We were curious as to how some of the coaches voted in their final poll this year. At the end of the season we usually see coaches politicking and jockeying for better bowl position by promoting themselves and the other teams in their conference. But the more egregious sins are typically revealed when the coaches' poll is made public. Well, thanks to USA Today we have the results, and we're pretty sure Bob Stoops isn't going to like what he sees. ...
Interesting tidbits from the final coaches' poll
Published 12/4/2007 by Jeff Zillgitt at Sports Scope
In the final USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches' Poll , six coaches from the SEC vote -- Mississippi State's Sylvester Croom, Tennessee's Phillip Fulmer, Arkansas' Houston Nutt, South Carolina's Steve Spurrier, LSU's Les Miles and Auburn's Tommy Tuberville. Just two of those coaches (Tuberville and Miles) gave LSU a first-place vote. Four of the coaches (Croom, Fulmer, Nutt and Richt) voted Ohio State No. 1. That ought to make for a fun coaches' meeting the next time they meet. In fact, Richt put his Georgia Bulldogs No. 2, ahead of LSU. Seven Big Ten coaches vote -- Michigan's Lloyd ...
Coaches Have Lost Their Voting Minds!

... this send? First and foremost… don’t be a hero and load up your schedule with difficult opponents. Schedule cream puffs and let everyone else get tripped up facing tough challenges. Second… Look out for your own at all costs. Take care of the teams you have an affiliation with, and maybe they will look out for you later. And Third, and most important… Take care of yourself first, and don’t worry about anyone else. Maybe I’m crazy, but this just makes me sick. You judge for yourself. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/graphics/coaches_fb_poll_2007/flash.htm

BC announced its plan for the St. Johns land as part of a massive expansion of the campus. This is great news. Hopefully the locals won't slow the process down in court. Here's a look at how the coaches voted. TOB liked BC. Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio didn't. Incoming BC football player Dominick Le Grande was named Player of the Year by the New York Daily News. Michigan State is excited about playing BC. ... If you want to know if a particular coach takes pride in his ballot, simply check to see if he voted for S. Florida. If not, then there is no pride present. S. Florida was inexplicably left out of the AP Top 25 and only ranked #25 in the USA Today. S. Florida’s computer average is ranked #14. It has impressive wins over West Virginia and Auburn. All three of its losses were by seven points or less against bowl teams. It is an insult to the S. Florida program that it isn’t ranked higher. If Oregon loses this game, it will do what Oregon usually does which is lose at least five ...

... I'm a big advocate of coaches not having a poll because -- well honestly, there are a lot of reasons you'll probably hear about throughout the season (see Stoops, Bob, voting LSU sixth last year while trying to eek his way into the national title game). That said, you can't ignore the poll if you're a team hoping for a BCS berth or a national title shot. ...
