USMNT gets historic win Sunday — biggest-ever margin of victory

On a sunny and pleasant Father’s Day in southern California, The U.S. Men’s National Team did something they had never done in the entire history of the team dating back almost 100 years…they won an official sanctioned FIFA match by eight -count ‘em - eight goals…
The final scoreline read 8-0 in the side’s first 2010 World Cup qualifying match, which was versus Barbados and held at the Home Depot Center.

Filed under: Soccer, FIFA World Cup, US Soccer After challenging itself with friendlies against England, Spain and Argentina, the U.S. men's national team probably figured its opening World Cup Qualifier against Barbados would be cake. Still, cake was never this easy. The U.S. reeled off an 8-0 victory, the largest margin of victory in the team's 122-year history, not to mention a win twice as big as most of my blowout victories when I'm playing Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Wii.
