The 27-year-old was hitting .277/.346/.390 with three homers and 44 RBIs in 101 games with Triple-A Ottawa. This will be his second assignment with the big club. It was just an anomaly really; he’s been a second baseman and nothing more his entire career. Thurston actually told me he earned the start because Gary Varsho liked the way he caught fly balls in batting practice.
