Vikings Allegedly Increase Offer for Jared Allen
Vikings Allegedly Increase Offer for Jared Allen
Take this for what it's worth. . .this information comes from an Insider article that was published on Viking Update .  Per protocol and common decency, I'm not going to link to the article here (and, hey, even if I did, you couldn't read it anyway), but the jist of it is this: The Vikings' offer to the Chiefs for Jared Allen now consists of their #17 overall pick in the 2008 Draft, their ...

I'd also like to thank you for the update.  I've looked all over since I heard something about an increased offer.  I'm as pumped as anyone about getting Allen but that's to expensive.  I remember back to when the coaching staff  was justifying the Underwood decision - something about a throw-away pick.  I don't want to give up a three even if we did steal it from Denver.  Let's open things up to other veterans like J. Taylor, J. Peppers et al.  I'm not saying they compare but the price certainly can't be that high.

How Jared Allen Ruined the Draft
The Ragnarok — Unlike some Vikings' fans, I wasn't having any trouble getting excited about the draft. I can understand why some Vikings' fans might not be too excited, but I like thinking about and debating various draft prospects, and strategies, even when they're somewhat unexciting, like a left tackle, or a safety. And its hard to get excited for the seventeenth pick, with so many variables built in, unlike last year, when it was just a matter of deciding which of the top seven players you liked best. That all changed when the news broke about Jared Allen. Once I realized that acquiring Allen was a strong possibility, it became too hard to ...

Getting Ready for The Draft
Acme Packing Company — ... How good will Minnesota be if they trade for Kansas City DE Jared Allen? Well it shouldn't help them much against the Packers. When they played last season at Kansas City, LT Chad Clifton did a very good job at keeping Allen in check. Allen only had success on stunts when he took on LG Daryn Colledge, and Colledge lost his starting job by the end of the season due to his overall poor play. Still, Allen is not just any defensive end, and he will change the entire defense in Minnesota for the better and fill major need. But Minnesota still needs help on the offensive line, at ...
