Sierra Mist Goal of the Week?
Behind the Shield — ... first RSL player to win the award since week 18 of last season when he took the award for his game-winning strike against the Houston Dynamo. This week Robbie showed a new wrinkle to his game. In the past he’s relied on his great speed and finishing ability to pick up goals, but this week he beat a defender 1-0n-1 and fired a 23-yard laser into the near post past a diving Joe Cannon. It was a great goal and was the turning point in helping propel the home side to victory. Click here to head on over to MLSnet.com and cast your vote. Robbie’s got some ...

Behind the Badge — C'mon, folks - help us earn our fourth Sierra Mist Goal of the Week by voting for Clyde Simms' blast in Saturday night's game. ¡Gonzalo Goalazo!
Behind the Badge — ...  And now, the defender is one of five nominations for Goal of the Week.  Remember how Simms won last week?  Well, the possibility exists that we could bring home our fifth - FIFTH - Sierra Mist Goal of the Week of 2008.  I don't know what the record is for most Goal of the Week wins in one year, but let's go for it, eh?  I'll ask the guys to keep scoring ridiculous goals as long as you agree to keep voting.  Watch Gonzalo's goal here and vote here.  (Are you happy Section 130?) ...

Ekpo nominated for Goal of the Week
Columbus Crew — I was right. Ekpo’s goal is up for Goal of the Week for Week 14. The clip of the goal is actually a bit disappointing since it starts after Ekpo popped the ball backwards over his own head and the guy covering him (Nick LaBrocca?). The thing that so impressed me, as I said before, was that he flicked the thing backwards and found it exactly where he expected it when he turned. He gained two steps on LaBrocca by not having to look for the ball. Maybe MLS needs to add a burn of the week… Funny enough, LaBrocca’s goal against the Crew is up for GOTW ...

Luci for Goal of the Week
Behind the Badge —  Once again, D.C. United has a goal up for the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. This week it's Luciano Emilio again vying for the award. A win would give D.C. its fourth consecutive GOTW (sixth overall). Don't you want to keep this streak going? Of course you do. So watch the goal below (the header) and vote. Now. ...

Ante Razov wins Goal of the Week - Again!
Dentro del Rebaño - The Official Bilingual Blog of Chivas USA — For the second consecutive week, Ante Razov has won the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week for a long-distance strike. After winning the award for his free kick goal in the 1-0 over San Jose on July 5, Ante won again for his one-timed strike on July 10 against the Galaxy. To find video of both goals, visit the Goal of the Week page on MLSnet.com, or watch the game recap for the San Jose game and the Galaxy Super Clasico. Crew vs. Rapids: Match Report
Columbus Crew — ... There’s not much to say about the offense or midfield. We didn’t see Corey Elenio since Sigi brought in first Lenhart, and then Garey as additional forwards. They are both up for Goal of the Week. Lenhart’s goal looked a lot like Espinoza’s goal against the Crew last week, with a well-tracked pass from Miglioranzi that threaded through a tight spot in the defense. Miglioranzi got the nod over Evans and performed well. ...

Center Line Soccer — ... , or cast a vote for Arturo Alvarez’s strike in the MLS Goal of the Week survey. Our favorite video from this weekend’s match was filmed by a transplanted Norwich City fan who took the time to teach a new song to the 1906 Ultras before the game. It turned out to be a brilliant move on his part since they had the perfect opportunity to sing it in the 40th minute.

Two weeks in a row?
Behind the Badge — ... One of the only positive things to come out of last night's match was Jaime Moreno's 120th career goal.  Remember after last week's goal when Jaime said he couldn't remember the last time he had scored with his head?  Well, he did it again last night and his tally is up for the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week.  The competition is tough this week, so Jaime needs your vote.  ...

Center Line Soccer — Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Obodai It’s a cheery Monday morning here at the solar-powered soccer blog. Tony Limarzi is excited
Behind the Badge — ... A lot of folks have commented on the fact that Santino Quaranta's second half goal against Colorado over the weekend was not nominated for the Goal of the Week (but, Joe Vide's did!).  Unfortunately, Saturday's game was only broadcast on Altitute Sports, who didn't put a camera behind the north goal (as team's normally do) and thus didn't have the best angle to view Santino's dipping, swerving shot. ...

Fabian’s Strike
Behind the Shield — ... is locked up in a tight battle for this week’s Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. His second strike on Friday night earned him a nod as one of the week’s nominees. Now it’s time to push him through to victory. His deft right-footed chip of Rapids keeper Preston Burpo currently has him sitting with a slim %2 cushion over Galaxy star Landon Donovan. It was certainly an excellent strike and one that we feel should be honored as such, so let’s get voting. Click here to head on over to the league’s website and vote away… ...

Behind the Shield — ... newcomer Will Johnson. The young midfielder/striker picked up his first goal since joining the squad just two weeks ago on a brilliant combination early in the second half. Receiving a pass from Ian Joy down the left flank, Will raced toward goal, laid the ball off for Yura Movsisyan, and Yura one-touched it back for Will to clinically finish of the far-post. Last week we were able to rally Fabian to victory for Goal of the Week, let’s do the same for Will. Head on over to MLSnet.com and cast your votes… ...

O’Brien gem up for Goal of the Week
Center Line Soccer — ... of the Week honors. Normally, a goal of that quality would win in a landslide, but O’Brien faces some tough competition this week. See for yourself, and enjoy not only some nice goals but the roar of the crowds in San Jose and Toronto when the ball hits the net: We’re particularly impressed with the 35-yarder to the top corner by Kansas City’s Davy Arnaud, artfully described on the broadcast as going “where grandma keeps the cookies.”  We’re voting for O’Brien, though, and you can cast your own ballot here . • • • In other news: - Goal.com’s Kyle McCarthy  focuses on the San ...

Arnaud GOLAZO

Souter up for Goal of the Week

The LA Galaxy — ... Landon's first goal from Saturday night's win has been nominated as the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. Go here to vote for LD and give him his second Goal of the Week award of the season. ...

He’s Poetry In Motion
LA Galaxy — ... much as I want him to remain with the Galaxy, I can’t help hoping he will go to Bayern Munich and play for Juergen Klinsmann.  I want to see him improve, flourish.  I don’t see that happening in MLS.  And Klinsmann won’t warm the bench with him either. So who knows what is in LD’s future.  What do you think?  What do you want? By the way, he has been named Player of the Week this week in MLS and is also up for Goal of the Week (you can vote here).

Wolff up for Goal of the Week
Hillcrest Road — ... we have a Wizards player nominated for the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week award. This time, it was Josh Wolff's second-half bicycle kick that got the nod. He's currently out in front in voting, ahead of that Toronto FC man Marvell Wynne. Let's keep him there! For those who didn't read the post-game post, it was Wolffie's first bicycle kick in a competitive match since he was 16. Boy was it pretty...too bad his assist later in the half for the equalizer was called back for a foul. Rough. GO VOTE. ...

The veteran midfielder fired home off a beautiful feed from Javier Morales to give Real the 2-0 lead on the road. After checking out the other nominees from this week, we feel comfortable saying that if Andy doesn’t win in a landslide, Al Gore will be demanding a recount. Yes, his was just that good. We Don’t Suck the Worst Anymore!
LA Galaxy — ... Although I’ve become a frustrated and often cynical fan, last night’s game was a joy to watch.  Bryan Jordan was all over the pitch using his speed to create scoring chances.  Edson Buddle showed off some unlikely finesse for a big guy.  And Brandon McDonald hit a gorgeous 35 yard shot into the right upper V.  Talk about a confidence boost for a rookie player, and a defensive midfielder at that.  Make sure you vote for him for goal of the week. ...

GOAL OF THE WEEK: TWO RED BULL NOMINATIONS
Red Bulls Reader — ... Unfortunately however, Will’s up against a league first: New York goalkeeper Danny Cepero scored on an 80 yard free kick to record the first ever goal by a keeper in MLS history. Vote Davy for GOTW/C-Bus Bus
Hillcrest Road — Yesterday I was remiss in reminding you all that Davy Arnaud is up for Sierra Mist Goal of the Week for his second-half strike against New England that turned out to be the game-winner. Well played Davy (and Claudio and Roger, for that matter). Nagamura up for Goal of the Week
Dentro del Rebaño - The Official Bilingual Blog of Chivas USA — ... to [Justin] to just leave it to me because I had a perfect shot," said 'Paulinho' after the match. "I had a pretty good hit." Very true - but unfortunately for Paulo, the Goal of the Week nominees this week are an especially strong bunch. Davy Arnaud from Kansas City is on the list for a vicious strike from about 25 yards, and FC Dallas' Kenny Cooper scored from his own half against Chicago, among others. Check out all the goals and cast your vote by following this link. ...

Sierra Mist Goal Of The Week Nominees - Week 1
TheOriginalWinger.com — ... USA’s Paulo Nagamura 5. Columbus Crew’s Guillermo Barros Schelotto 6. FC Dallas’ Kenny Cooper 7. Chicago Fire’s Cuauhtemoc Blanco 8. Seattle Sounders’ Fredy Montero Great way to start off the 2009 MLS campaign with some absolutely stunning goals, but I personally gotta go with Kenny Cooper’s chipping Jon Busch from his own half with Pontius’ following up and both Arnaud goals after that. Vote here at MLS Sierra Mist Goal of the Week.

Goal of the Week: Speak now
The Netminder — It's not the place of the media to influence a fan vote. No, no, not at all. But when we suspect that MLS' Goal of the Week voting is a little skewed because Toronto fans are just that enthusiastic, it's time to speak up. Generally, you'd expect a shot from beyond midfield against a goalkeeper who's (A) not caught way upfield and (B) conscious would get more than 33% of the vote. That's what Kenny Cooper did for Dallas this weekend. Take a look at the nominees. Player of the Week, on the other hand, is a media vote, ...

REPORT: Allegations of MLS Goal of The Week Vote Tampering Against the League?
Major League Soccer (MLS) Rumors - For the time between the games — ... Sounders fans. Arnaud Recognized + a Story
Hillcrest Road — ... was at her first-ever game. He was, of course, pretty excited that his latest two-goal game came with Peyton in attendance. Hopefully he scores two goals whenever Peyton is in the house. Also of note, Davy has scored four of the Wizards last five goals. With two goals Saturday, one goal in our series against Columbus and the second-to-last goal against New England during the 2008 regular-season finale, Mr. Arnaud has been on quite a tear. Don't forget to vote Davy for Goal of the Week! ...

Vote Pontius!
The Fullback Files — ... , so I'll merely add my encouragement to rally the Pontius vote for Goal of the Week . When I ticked the box he was in third but trailing severely to Cooper's midfield blast (which I will vote for as well, in the interest of fairness, that being the real GOTW) and the ballot-box stuffers in Seattle, who seem to be doing their best TFC end run on the voting.

It’s All About Intensity - and 29 Shots and 6 Goals Never Hurts
Real Salt Lake — ... What can I say about the game that Real Salt Lake played against the New England Revolution that hasn’t already been said? I mean, six goals in the second half, and lest it be construed that RSL was putting weak shots in, I point to the goals by Clint Mathis and Andy Williams, both of which are up for goal of the week. The week before, RSL coach Jason Kreis had said that the problem he saw with the team was not one of playing better at home than away, but that the team seemed to lack intensity in the first half of the game. Well, whatever happened at the training ...
