With all eyes on the west coast road trip, the Washington Capitals quietly debuted the Red Rockers presence on the team's web site. The eager eye of the official message boards sniffed it out. There are no individual bios -- at least not yet -- but there are headshots of all 16 ladies and just for the female hockey fan, one guy. Also on the Red Rockers page are links to a photo gallery, a video of the tryouts, and a tryout diary from one of the girls, Emme. All four home teams in the NFL Playoffs this weekend were underdogs and two of them still won. It goes to show just how much Vegas knows but is also a clear indication that the NFL has pretty much achieved the parity that it longs for. Oddly enough, it was the six seeds Bhawlmuher and Philly that lived up to the expectations and now face the number one seeds next weekend. However, all four home teams are the favorites and don't expect all four to win next weekend either. (Quick sidenote: Can someone please explain to us why people are all excited about the Pittsburgh Steelers? They beat the Arizona Cardinals. Big deal. Who hasn’t?) Prior to Tuesday’s big win against New York, I had the occasion to meet Corrie, one of the Red Rockers, as she prepared for the pre-game introductions. Since she is the first I have had an opportunity to meet, she is also the first that I will feature here on Capitals Outsider. The Red Rockers are essentially the spirit squad of the Washington Capitals, or as some would call them, Ice Girls. They lead cheers, give out prizes, greet fans, and help to coordinate activities around the arena.
