"Wat" an NBA pioneer
Wataru "Wat" Misaka, the first non-white player to enter the ranks of pro ball in the USA played in the Basketball Association of America, which is now known as the NBA. The film, titled "Transcending" is being shown today in Salt Lake City, to celebrate this Utah pioneer of ethnic minorities.

    Hi mookie,

    Great article written! Pity the asian players in the past though, talented, passionate but ostracized. I am sure he got cut cos he was asian! How times have changed though.

    In current times, however, i can't say for sure that many played basketball for passion than for money...

      Let's hope he wasn't cut based on race, but there's a strong chance he was in those days when race was such a big deal -- even in sport.
