TheHype +4Damn, Ufford is this much closer to getting her number... or... maybe not. -
extrapolater She's hot, and she's holding a pole... have you forgotten what it's like to be a man, Mr. Stokke? -
chone Not that anyone reads it, but there's a Stokke mention in ESPN the mag this week. Seems like Ufford is the go-to guy if you're a magazine looking to steal from bloggers. -
Brian The girl is a legal adult at 18. And she's smokin'. Wow.

... of today's Washington Post about it. What hath With Leather wrought? (Tell you what: It's the ultimate symbol of Matt Ufford's influence as an "indie" sports blogger.) As usual, Deadspin has the definitive take.

... d like plenty of em). But it s funny: The whole sports blog world fights hard against the stereotype that they re young single guys who can t find any other social outlet, and then something like this crops up as Exhibit A. There are some voices of sanity in comments around the Internet, but most break down into two camps: 1) Those who think the girl and her dad should just shut up about all the perverted things being written about her, even though she never sought any attention and until one month ago was like a million other anonymous high school athletes. The deep thinkers seem to believe the great crime comes not from their obscenity but from the family talking to the Post. It s like reporting that your car has been stolen and saying there s a problem with the design of the lock. If you hadn t called the insurance company, none of the other thieves would know about it! The next stolen car is YOUR fault! (Deadspin, one of my favorite sites, went with the sarcastic headline

... I’m more upset at the deadspin.com post about this. Just read this and the comments, now that you’ve read pieces of the article above. Really, Will, Alison’s father is “screaming out his lungs about it” when his daughter had to bring it to his attention, and there’s ONE quote from him in the article? And do you really think that Alison’s father would call the Washington Post, a paper some 3000 miles away, and ask to be interviewed, instead of the other way around?! Highly unlikely. Maybe next time, instead of mostly cutting and pasting from Ufford’s e-mail about the situation, Deadspin writers could read the article the post is about. (Realizes that this section pushes back date of first Deadspin or withleather.com link to blog from 07/01/2011 to 07/01/2015, shrugs).

... Well, I should take unpopular stances on rugby more often. I’ve never seen so many reader comments on this blog as I did yesterday. Maybe it was a result of Ufford making a cameo — people saw him here and probably showed up expecting to see more hot teenage pole vaulters. (Say, aren’t the Hot Teenage Pole Vaulters opening up for Arcade Fire right now? I hear they put on a good show…)
