C-Webb could retire of join Knicks next season?
Ben Maller's Sports Rumors & Notes — ... Chris Webber told The Post last night he could see himself retiring if he wins his first NBA title with the Pistons this June. If he doesn't retire, Webber, 34, likely will give the Knicks another chance since he again becomes a free agent, according to a source close to C-Webb. Webber revealed before facing the Knicks last night he tried to force a trade last summer to New York. The Knicks pursued Webber when he was bought out of his Philly contract in December, but Webber opted for his hometown, Detroit. "This summer I definitely wanted to come here (to New York), really tried to ask my agents to make things work when I was in Philadelphia," Webber said. "It wasn't working out. With the opportunity to come here (to Detroit), it was a no-brainer. This was the better team and I needed a chance to win a championship."

C-Webb To Spin In Garden?
The Feed — ... The headline of Marc Berman's article in today's Post tells you everything you need to know about the chances that Chris Webber will become a member of the 2007-2008 New York Knicks.

New York Rubs Chris Webber’s Crystal Ball
Empty the Bench — ... With the Detroit Pistons in town yesterday, the New York Post’s Marc Berman took the opportunity to track down 34-year-old Chris Webber and inquire about what his future may hold. Acting as any free-agent-to-be should, Webber chose his words carefully in characterizing his plans after the Pistons’ run in the playoffs ends. First, he reiterated that his number one priority right now is winning a championship with Detroit. Then, C-Webb emphasized his past interest in playing for the Knicks, even revealing that he tried to force a trade to New York when he was still employed by the Philadelphia 76ers.

This must be Thursday. I could never get the hang of Thursdays.
YAYsports! NBA — ... -  If I was Chris Webber, why would I be interested in going to the Knicks? And why would the Knicks be interested in him?

Sixer "News"
Depressed Fan — ... Yesterday, the New York Post reported that Chris Webber was almost a Knick, and may still become one. This is a perfect fit, if you ask me. Isiah Thomas is hell-bent on making the Knicks the worst team in the league, and Webber would’ve been an ideal addition to that sad, sad team. He and Eddy Curry would’ve pushed each other for the honor of worst interior defender. The reason Webber wants to go to New York seems obvious: Isiah Thomas lets his players walk all over him. Webber could rule the roost in NY, completely forego conditioning, take a night off whenever he wants, and basically coast into retirement without any real pressure to win.
