This year with all but four teams represented the SB bloggers will venture into the realm of the mock draft and not just any mock draft.  A three round mock draft.  With much behind the scenes deliberation the rules were laid out.  It has also been decided that Field Gulls will be the host site.

Major Announcement!!!  The football sites of SBNation.com, which yours truly is a member, is getting set to launch our First Annual SBNation Mock Draft.  Now, we all know there are thoushands of Mock Drafts out there, but this one is a bit unique.  Unlike others, where some blow-hard, know-it-all, is making picks for every team, we are going to have guys, and sites, that have infinite knowledge of their teams making the picks.  Even better, we are going to go three rounds, and trades are allowed.  No crazy, Techmo Bowl-type trades, real trades, that we might find possible.

... The draft actually begins today, and is being hosted by the witty (when not complaining about the officials in the Super Bowl) blogger Shrug over at Field Gulls. Head over there for an explanation of the Mock Draft format. Also check back regularly, as Field Gulls will announce each team's pick as they are submitted.

The Lions went on the clock in the 2007 SB Nation Mock Draft yesterday and it left me to explore many options.  The two main roads I could go down were picking a player at #2 or trading down.  Trading down was the best of the two options as it brings more possibilities, which is why I ended up doing that, but I'll get to that in a bit.
