ESPN Coaches poll: Harrison is the “dirtiest”, Moss is pretty smart
Published 7/1/2008 by matt at Matt's Pats Blog
In a recent coaches poll, where coaches were advised not to vote for their own players, Patriots SS Rodney Harrison took home the gold in a fitting category: Dirtiest Player. 18 coaches responded to this question, and 11 of them picked Harrison. Harrison maintains he simply plays with a high level of intensity, and doesn’t consider himself dirty. Teammates, and ex-teammates agree. Deion Branch, for example, drew a line between Harrison’s 110% effort and the dirty-ness of Texans’ Travis Johnson (Johnson knocked out QB Trent Green, who suffered a concussion, and proceeded to stand over the QB while taunting him). "He’s not that type of ...

Why QBs were excluded in NFL coaches survey
Published 7/1/2008 at ESPN.com - NFL Nation - Blog
Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson The smartest offensive player question in ESPN.com's NFL coaches' survey had one caveat: Coaches couldn't pick quarterbacks. We knew if quarterbacks were eligible, they would dominate the answers. Many coaches pointed out they would have voted for Indianapolis' Peyton Manning or New England's Tom Brady if they had the opportunity. From the six coaches or so who mentioned it to me, I got the impression most thought Manning is the smartest player in the league. I do think it was the best approach to exclude quarterbacks because it gave players from other positions a chance to get noticed. ...

The NFC may have my heart, but it’s not the only conference I’ve been keeping my eye on this offseason. After the jump, I break down some WTF moments from 2008 worth revisiting (and mocking.) AFC North Baltimore Ravens – Derrick Martin and Ravens Marketing Vice President Gabrielle Dow Ravens quarterbacks pass the ball. Ravens cornerbacks pass the dutchie…or last least one of them apparently does. CB Derrick Martin got busted trying to bring weed through, of all places…THE AIRPORT. I can’t even get ...
