Vernon Wells couldn't have ended the year any better. The only problem is that his season concluded on Sunday. Wells went 4-for-4, homered twice and had five RBIs, leading Jesse Litsch and the Toronto Blue Jays over the Baltimore Orioles 10-1. Wells hit a solo homer in the second inning, an RBI single in the third, a three-run shot in the fifth and a single in the seventh.

The Blue Jay Hunter — ... Leave it up to Vernon Wells to save the Jays from almost not having a 20 HR hitter since the inception of the club in 1977. Even after being on the disabled list twice this season, V-Dub still managed to hit 20 homeruns in 106 games.
