Werth in center; Victorino to right | Philadelphia Inquirer | 05/14/2008 Links2
Shane Victorino said he had no problems yesterday when he learned that Charlie Manuel had moved him to right field to play Jayson Werth in center. Victorino, who opened the season as the Phillies' everyday centerfielder, had played center in the previous 23 games he had started this season. But Werth had started 15 games in center while Victorino spent time on the disabled list last month ... [link]

No Rhyme Or Reason For Outfield Shuffle
Published 5/14/2008 by Tim Malcolm at Phillies Nation
Last night Charlie Manuel started Jayson Werth in center field and Shane Victorino in right field. It was going fine until the ninth inning, when Werth misplayed a fly ball by Brian McCann for a double. One run scored. Though the Phils hung on to win, the play could’ve cost them the game. Manuel’s reason for putting Werth in center field was merely that he wanted to: “I want Werth to play center field every now and then. I said before that Werth will play some in center field. When It Comes To Howard’s Slump, Everyone Has An Opinion (Including Me)

On the heels of a night where he went 2-for-4 maybe there’s hope that Phillies slugger Ryan Howard is finally snapping out of his ’08 slump. Then again, he did add to his strikeout total twice to boost it to a major league-high 56 times. Other than surviving Jimmy Rollins’ trip to the disabled list with a winning record, the hottest topic amongst Phillies’ fans is the horrendous slump that ...

Utley '08

Say what you will about the Leader of the Free World, the man knows his baseball: As for his baseball pick, his first choice to build a team is Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies. "There's nothing better than having a good person up the middle that can hit," said Bush, a former part-owner of the Texas Rangers.

Not sure exactly the nature of Charlie Manuel’s problem with Shane Victorino, but whatever it is it almost cost the Phillies a game last night. With both Victorino and Jayson Werth in the starting lineup, Manuel put Victorino in right and Werth ...

Shake Down. Break Down. You'r Busted!

Last night, NBC 10 News followed around Philly PD as they prowled the Citizen Bank Park parking lots for underage drinkers. Not surprisingly, they did so on "Dollar Dog Night." The results: 91 minors busted, 7 juvies (under 18), 8 people produced fake IDs and 9 were cited for disorderly conduct. (Yet some drunken stumble bums still managed to make it into the stadium).
