What can we realistically expect from Devin Hester this year?
A few weeks ago, I said the only way the Bears will be good this year is if three things happen. The defense has to stay healthy for the entirety of the season, the offensive line has to improve significantly, and Devin Hester needs to take a big step forward in his development as a receiver, while still being Devin Hester as a return man. But what would a big step forward really be for a ... [link]

Palin’s take on God and the war will certainly be fodder for the rest of the week - and hey, she made the cover of Us Weekly! … and because it’s good to be back, fun after the jump … How about a round of applause for Cousins of Ron Mexico, Patrick Imig, Ty Duffy, Sports Hernia, Lee Diekemper and the Interns for holding it down over the last week? Thanks, fellas. Expectations for Devin Hester. (Tremendous Upside Potential) Beanie Wells’ toe seems to be the ...

Colts Actually Debating Whether or Not to Kick To Devin Hester

The Colts will apparently face a dilemma Sunday night if the Chicago Bears win the opening coin flip in spankin' new Lucas Oil Stadium ... whether or not to kick the ball deep to greatest returner in NFL history. Wait, hold on ... I'm getting ...

HESTER OUTSMARTS HIMSELF
Like Bengals receiver Chad Johnson (for now), Bears kick returner Devin Hester has a flair for the dramatic. Unlike Johnson, Hester is willing to take stupid risks in order to satisfy his desire to show off. To start the second half of Sunday night’s game against the Colts, Hester took the kickoff deep in his own end [...]
Bears fans Soldier on…Hester and Lloyd are your starting receivers
Lovie Smith made his name as a defensive coach, and so it’s completely understandable that he would focus more on that side of the ball as head coach in Chicago. But is it possible that he’s not paying attention to the offense, at all? Sarcasm aside, it’s got to be tough for Bears fans to stomach what has gone with the offensive situation this offseason: Re-signing QBs ...
COULD NFL FORCE HESTER TO CHANGE NUMBERS?
Now that Devin Hester has settled in as a wide receiver after starting his career as a defensive back, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times raises an interesting issue: Could the NFL force Hester to change his number? Hester wears No. 23, the number issued to him as a rookie defensive back. But Biggs notes that [...]
Colts Will Kick To Hester
Only in Chicago does the busniess of punts and kickoffs become a big issue.  Despite getting burned in the Super  Bowl by Devin Hester and having a questionable special teams, the Colts will at times kick to him . 'There are going to be times when you have to kick to him,'' Dungy said. ''And we're going to try to punt well and punt high and make him move around to catch it. ...
Brandon Lloyd Is a Better Wide Receiver Than Rapper, and That's Not a Compliment
The Bears have any number of things to concern themselves with as the season opener approaches: the state of Tommie Harris' knee , the questions along the offensive line (tangentially related: the inane drafting philosophy ), the quarterback -- and his neck beard , not to mention the situation at wide receiver. (Silver lining: special teams is still awesome .) In previewing the Week 1 game in ...
Will Colts kick to Bears' Hester?
Imagine the anticipation. It's the first game of the Indianapolis Colts ' 2008 season, the first "real" game in the $720 million Lucas Oil Stadium, and the opening kickoff goes to arguably the greatest returner in NFL history. It all depends on the coin flip . . . and then whether the Colts are willing to take the risk. It has certainly crossed Devin Hester 's mind. "Yeah, ...

Biggs' Blog: If Hester catches on, will No. 23 go?
When Devin Hester joined the Bears in 2006, he was assigned No. 23 because he was a cornerback. Provided he remains primarily a returner, at least according to the club's latest roster, he's perfectly fine wearing No. 23.
Quarterbacks have no 1 to look up to at receiver
The Bears haven't announced their starting wide receivers, but Brandon Lloyd and Devin Hester were in the role for the last three preseason games, and it's unlikely the team is waiting to spring a surprise Sunday at Indianapolis.
