 What Was Braylon Thinking?
While I think that we were one of the only blogs to not really delve into the entire Will Leitch/Buzz Bissinger/Bob Costas issue, C-Notes has put together a pretty homorous take from the mind of Braylon Edwards - who, for some reason, was on the panel of those that were to discuss the Internet. Naturally... [link]

Tonight: Will Leich to Live Out Blogger's Wet Dream

From News Day's Neil Best: Bob Costas owes Delgado the heartiest thanks of all, because the timing was exquisite for the "Costas Now" he will host on HBO at 10 tonight. The topic is the "volatile" sports media landscape, and the live panelists are to include Michael Strahan, Chris Russo, Buzz Bissinger, Will Leitch, Joe Buck, Mike Tirico, Dan Patrick, Tiki Barber and John McEnroe.

Shameless Program Note

I will appear on a segment of HBO's "Costas Now" tonight. Subject matter: Is Miley Cyrus too young for that Vanity Fair picture? Or "Bloggers and Sports Media." They interviewed me for both and haven't told me which one I'm in. There is also a ...

Buzz Bissinger Freaks Out at Will Leitch

I Enjoy Bob Costas More Out Of Context

Let me sum up tonight's Costas Now piece about the state of the sports landscape: anything that has ever gone wrong in the past, is currently going wrong or will go wrong in the future can be blamed on blogs, specifically Deadspin & it’s founder Will Leitch. This was proven by Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger by reading a brief passage from Deadspin about Rich Garces’s tits.

Buzz Bissinger Does Not Like Blogs

That was clear during Buzz Bissinger's freak-out on Costas Now (just now), attacking Will Leitch. The irony is that Will came across as the thoughtful one, and Buzz Bissinger -- self-appointed savior of "old media" -- came across as the unhinged nut. Points to Big Daddy Drew (aka "Balls Deep") and AJ Daulerio for the name-checks. Any pub is good pub!

A Few Words on "The Internet"

Okay. So. "Costas Now." Tonight, I was interviewed as part of that program's multi-part investigation of Sports and the Media. What followed the tape piece was a live discussion among Will Leitch of Deadspin, Buzz Bissinger of "Friday Night Lights" ...

Leitch Entered the Bissinger Saw

To be honest to my readers, I met Deadspin's founder Will Leitch a few months ago on his book tour. He was insightful, funny, and overall, a very cool guy. We shared some beers and heaters. I read Deadspin but not faithfully everyday. I just ...

Buzz Bissinger Would Rather You Stop Reading This

To be upfront, I didn't watch last night's railroading of Deadspin's Will Leitch on Costas Now. For the moment, all I can go off of is Will's recap of the events. I'm awaiting the videos to go live on the YouTubes and I'll see what all the hubbub is about. I was about to record the show when I got home when it occurred to me that I don't have HBO anymore (Blame Showtime and their stellar TV Show l

My Thoughts Regarding Will Leitch's Appearances on Best Damn, Costas Now

THT Live:Prayers Sometimes Get Answered

You know, I don't think Buzz Bissinger has any legitimate insight about blogs. I take it personally when people like Bissinger and Costas excoriate blogs. I honestly have no interest in watching that video segment of Bissinger ranting on Will Leitch. Joe Posnanski's blog entry about the episode is good enough for me.

Asshole Of The Week: Buzz Bissinger

My take on the uproar caused this week by Buzz Bissinger's comments towards Will Leitch and the rest of the sports blogosphere on Costas Now.

On the Record With Bob Costas
On Thursday I wrote that I thought Bob Costas booked Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger on his HBO show alongside Deadspin blogger Will Leitch because he wanted precisely the explosive, Jerry Springer-style confrontation that their panel discussion turned out to be. On Friday Costas called me to, in his words, "Correct your entirely incorrect assertion." "Did I knowingly set up this ...
Blog Update: Leitch vs. Bissinger
Hi folks. As you may guess, I had some passionate opinions on the Bissinger-Leitch dispute this week. You can tell by the titles that I was not so sure that bloggers won this round as some of my blogging colleagues were: Will Leitch, Bob Costas, and the Blog Revolution that Never Was A Template for Blogger-Media Interactions, Plus Bissinger-Leitch Links I'm a little saddened for MSM and ...
I am a blogger, and so what of it?
I watched the "unfair" matchup between writer and anti-Internet/blogger Buzz Bissinger (who wrote Friday Night Lights) and the owner of one of the biggest sports blogs, Will Leitch (Deadspin). At first I thought I would just let all of this pass, since personally I saw that there were plenty of others taking their time to respond to these accusations. By the way, the reason I am saying ...

Leitch vs. Bissinger--Yet ANOTHER Blogger's Thoughts
This is a sportsblog, and as we in the blogosphere have come under ornery attack (Like John McCain chasing kids off his lawn) I feel like I should respond in some way. I know that our literally dozens of regular readers may not read other sportsblogs very often, but you should know that Will Leitch is the man behind Deadspin (though it has become a multi-pronged affair of late, which I
This is Why Everyone Hates the Media
HBO has a show with Bob Costas and one of his topics last week was on sports bloggers versus journalists. The panel consisted of a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist named Buzz Bissinger, NFL player Braylon Edwards, and Deadspin.com's Will Leitch. Deadspin.com is one of the most popular sports blogs on the internet and Bissinger is the writer of the book "Friday Night Lights." I had never heard ...
Simply Eloquent...
Soundchaser brought it up in the diaries . Last night on HBO the traditional media vs. the new media took center stage as Will Leitch from Deadspin was thrown into the lions den in defending what bloggers are and what we are about. Bizzinger vs. Leitch (and the Internet)
I’m only the 5,000th blogger to mention this, but Deadspin’s Will Leitch was on Costas Now last night, where Buzz Bissinger (author of Friday Night Lights) absolutely went nuts and on a tirade against Leitch and the Internet. YouTube pulled the video, but Deadspin still has it up . Leitch could’ve done a better job of defending himself, but it’s good that he ...
The Blog Zone
If you haven't heard about it already, Deadspin's Will Leitch was on with Bob Costas for his " On the Record " gig the other night and a "discussion" broke out about a blogging. Author Buzz Bissinger is less than thrilled, that's putting it politely, about blogs.
The Buzz Bissinger meltdown
As we guessed, the YouTubes now have a full 10 minutes of the “Costas Now” debacle of last night featuring Buzz Bissinger and Will Leitch. It’s HBO, so there is some bad language involved. Leitch stammers and tries to get words out while Bissinger and Costas turn their noses upward and pummel away, sounding quite frankly like jerks who had valid points to make but ...
Full Of Sound And Fury, Signifying Everything
(Video via Awful Announcing .) Everyone’s up in arms today over last night’s Costas Now , in which Will Leitch basically fended off H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger and Bob Costas as they ranted about blogging’s abusive tone and profane writing. Bissinger’s particular diatribe reeks of a noxious sort of desperation, one that a writer of his talent should ...

Michael Strahan, Chris Russo agree to disagree
The big national story to come out of Bob Costas' sports media town meeting on HBO Tuesday was the cross-generational holy war pitting Buzz Bissinger and (to a lesser extent) Costas against Will Leitch, representing the blogosphere. Are sports bloggers benevolent or evil? Yes.
Honestly, I don't know where to begin in dissecting the events of Tuesday in Big Town, where I should have been most interested in the Michael Strahan/Chris Russo showdown on "Costas Now" but instead got sucked in by the multi-car pileup in which Buzz Bissinger rear-ended Will Leitch, with Bob Costas tossing gasoline and matches into the wreck.
