Whatifsports.com Well, it was indeed interesting. Odom didn't make a 3 in Game 1 but we correctly picked the Celtics in 6. Was that a little lucky? Yes. But were the Celtics clearly the better team both on paper/computer and on the floor? Yes.
BTW, do you have a link to WoW's predictions?

The Finals Pick
Published 6/3/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (DMtShooter) at Five Tool Tool - The Sports Blog That Loves You Back
This morning, a computer honk site claimed to run a simulation of the Finals 10,000 times, and got the Celtics winning 64% of the time, most often in six. Show that article to any Celtics fan you know. Then, try to get them to bet with you. The Lakers have a coach that's won nine championships, and is 48-0 when his team wins Game 1 in a series, with an absurdly effective feel for gaming the refs. The Celtics have a coach that manages his bench by "feel," that lost 17 games in a row last year, and a 1-8 road record in this year's playoffs, including getting taken to the limit by a sub-.500 team (Atlanta) and a team that's one player ...

Celtics In 6
Published 6/4/2008 by redsarmy at RedsArmy.com: The Voice Of Celtics Fans
... WhatIfSports has run 10,000 simulations of the NBA finals… and the result:
It’s the series that we have all been waiting for and if the WhatIfSports.comsuper computer, which is on a roll after correctly picking the NCAA tournament Final Four, Championship and Champion, is correct, the Boston Celtics will take home their 17th NBA Championship. We have simulated the NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers 10,000 times in order to determine the likelihood of either team winning it all. In the 11th ...

So… Rob has the Celtics in 6 or 7. I have the Lakers in 5 or 6.
I asked around the traps to a variety of different bloggers as to who has what (and sheesh… most responded!) - and this was the response (of the 34 who responded):

Computer watches Finals 10,000 times, so you needn't
Published 6/5/2008 by Neil Best at Watchdog
No need to bother staying up late watching the NBA Finals.
A computer with time to kill played the series 10,000 times and has decided the most likely result is that the Celtics will win in six games, specifically by a 107-103 score in Game 6.
You're welcome. Sleep tight.

You know… all sorts of stuff comes out when your team wins the title. That cartoon is from the latest Garbage Time All Stars comic up on Ball Don’t Lie… which also features a Perkins eating contest and now that KG is number 1, all he’s thinking about is number 2.

I have to question any analysis that includes Odom hitting a game winning three pointer :)
On a serious note, though, both you and Wages of Wins picked the Celtics to win, while I picked the Lakers. I think that stat oriented predictions like yours and WoW's may put too heavy an emphasis on rebounding stats and not be able to factor in something like how difficult it will be for the Celtics to defend the Bryant-Gasol screen/roll play. Your simulation can only work with the numbers it is given and since the Celtics did not play against a tandem like Bryant-Gasol the simulation cannot really address exactly what will happen when the Celtics have to guard them. Of course, the other possibility is that I am wrong and the Celtics will win. We'll find out in the next couple weeks; it should be very interesting.
