Every offseason there are headlines splashed across ESPN reading “So and So has retired” and they go into a long retrospective of that player’s career, as they did for Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan, and Brett Favre (before he changed his mind and really sent ESPN into overdrive.) Those headlines only represent a small fraction of the players who either retire or drift out of the league in any given year.
