Which Four College Football Teams Are the Most Overrated in 2008?
As focused as I am on baseball at the moment, there is no getting around the fact that June is the month before the month before the month at the end of which football season starts. The season preview magazines are hitting the newsstands and all of our summertime minds are turning more and more towards the arrival of autumn and, with it, the return to the gridiron of our favorite teams.  ... Texas Tech Tuesday Morning Notes - Lockdown Corner Edition
Published 6/10/2008 by Seth C at Double-T Nation
... Kyle at Dawg Sports thinks that Texas Tech is one of four teams receiving undeserved preseason hype. Again, I don't have much time, but I do believe the preseason hype is warranted, and I'm trying to be as objective as possible. I don't think there's any shame is giving up 27 points to Oklahoma, especially when they averaged 42.29 there were games where the defense did play well (Iowa State to 17, Baylor to 7 and the TAMU to 7), but the key is that those were all home games. I think this is where experience plays a big part of the success of a team and with ...

Overhyped?
Published 6/11/2008 by Seth C at Double-T Nation
... Time's been a little short for me as I try and tie up loose ends at work before leaving on vacation. But I wanted to give some time to Kyle's assertion that Texas Tech is receiving undeserved attention this preseason. (Of course this somewhat begs the question in that isn't any team receiving undeserved attention at this time of the year. It's June for Pete's sake.) Back to the point at hand. Kyle obviously had a problem with the schedule and it has been well documented that ...

... box for my neighborhood got annihilated by lightning last week, necessitating purchases of a new TV and modem. As such, I have been without home Internet access for a week. It was as awful as it sounds. Anyway, I'm back, and there's a lot of news to cover, so I'll get to it. From the "Think Before You Speak" Department: Last week I had a bit of a disagreement with Kyle over at Dawg Sports. Kyle named Texas Tech as one of his four "most overrated" teams heading into the 2008 college football season. Seth over at Double-T ...

What a Schedule is Worth

Corn Flakes - Mark Mangino Finds Me Undesirable
Published 7/29/2008 by corn blight at Corn Nation
... I suppose I'd better start figuring out my blogpoll as well. I doubt I'll be ranking Nebraska. I think we have a lot to prove before we deserve a ranking. I echo Kyle's sentiment that Kansas is overrated, but I'm not sure about Texas Tech. Tech is the Mizzou of last season - always on the edge of success but never quite there. That changed for Missouri in 2007, can it change for Tech in 2008? ...

WEEK TWO: The letdown
Published 8/1/2008 by cocknfire at Garnet And Black Attack
... The prime time matchup on ESPN, Saturday at 8 p.m., is also the best of the bunch: Miami (FL) at Florida (FL). (Yes, C&F got that idea from Kyle.) Miami will look to prove that it's still relevant in the Randy Shannon Era. Florida will get its first chance to try on its national championship contender label on a national stage. ...

BlogPoll Ballot: What about ... ?
Published 8/13/2008 by cocknfire at Garnet And Black Attack
... are probably the three trendiest picks for "surprise" teams this year, so let me run through them quickly. I just think Bo Pelini needs more time at Nebraska. The defense was so very very dreadful last year. They allowed 422 passing yards -- to Ball State. They allowed more than 300 ypg to three straight opponents: Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas. So the defense could be greatly improved and still get this team only to respectability. As for Pitt, I defer to the Mayor: Wanny may be able to get ‘em to Pitt, but there is absolutely ...
