Sorry for the lack of updates and links lately. New job = new work schedule. To make up for it, here's an extra-large helping of links. Rudy Gay is in the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest. He will be facing reigning champ Gerald Green, the man-beast who should have won last year in Dwight Howard and rookie surprise Jamario Moon. He is asking for all the help he can get, as he is requesting that fans offer submissions via YouTube that could assist him in capturing the crown. Go to http://www.youtube.com/rudygay22slamdunk for all the details. The Ahwatukee Foothills News (real paper, I swear) has a great look at the story of Eric McMahon, known to the readers of this blog as "Grizz", the ...

Herald Just another game for KG FL's Take: Since there isn't anyone left on the Wolves that KG was close to, I don't think this game will be as emotional for KG as when they play in Minnesota. That will be emotional as being in the same building that he played in for so many years with the Minny fans there will bring back memories. This game, not so much. Jefferson's star rises in Minneapolis, Posey aims for Sunday FL's Take: Al is ...
What Makes Roy Good

Filed under: Trail Blazers, Western, The WordThe Blazers are for real, and you should be watching them. Or at least thinking "if I had League Pass, I would totally watch the Portland Trail Blazers all the time". I'm partial to LaMarcus Aldridge and Travis Outlaw, but it's pretty darn obvious that this team rests on the shoulders of Brandon Roy. The thing is, it's really difficult to explain what makes Roy good. You know he's winning games for Portland, and putting up big numbers. And yet I couldn't say what his signature style is, or why he's hard to stop at key moments. Luckily, David Thorpe had a go at it. He agrees that Roy's hard to pin down, and then does so anyway: The reigning Rookie of the Year is still at the head of the class. He's not a ...
Snub Me Two Times: Brandon Roy

Filed under: Trail Blazers, Western, NBA All-Star GameWhy do we always wait until after the All Star selections to talk about snubs? FanHouse is here to break the mold and tell you who might be out and why they got passed over by the fans first and then the coaches. Honestly, sometimes I have to wonder what a guy needs to do to be an All Star. And then I remember, "oh yeah, for some stupid reason you have to average 20 points per game." Unfortunately for Brandon Roy, he does not. He averages 19.4 points per game. So really, I should just stop arguing right now. It's not 20, so he is not getting in. Despite the fact that the Portland Trailblazers, the same team that had the first overall pick in last year's NBA draft, is a half game out of first in the Northwest ...
