Of Ozzie Guillen and blow-up dolls
Published 5/6/2008 by PostmanR at The Postmen // A Sports Blog // Chicago, IL.
... On top of all this, Guillen now has to deal with columnists shocked — absolutely shocked I tell you! — that a major league clubhouse might, get this, not respect women all the time. ...
Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's Ozzie Guillen's Sex Dolls
Published 5/6/2008 by Eamonn Brennan at FanHouse
Filed under: Chicago, White Sox, AL Central, MLB Media WatchThe White Sox remain the gift that keeps giving. One day, Ozzie Guillen is calling the White Sox Chicago's biznatch. The next day he's letting reporters see his club's crude blowup doll collection, complete with suggestively placed bats and the slogan "You've got to push." Yep, that's going to rile the locals: But this isn't about reporters' feelings. Reporters are conduits to the fans. What a team does behind closed doors is its own ...
Sox’ Blowup Dolls With ‘Strategically-Placed’ Bats
Published 5/6/2008 by Brooks at SPORTSbyBROOKS
... We’re happy to report that Carol Slezak of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES today decided to devote an entire column to the “sexist shrine”, with predictable results . We all know what Ms. Slezak is going to say before she says it. So the only thing interesting involving the matter was the reax of Ozzie Guillen when he was questioned about the display by the S-T’s Kara Spak . Guillen: “Everyone in the clubhouse, 100% of the people in the clubhouse, they are 18 years old and that’s a private thing. If the players do it in the dugout so everyone in the public could see it, or did it ...
Ozzie Guillen Is Still Quite Awesome
Published 5/6/2008 at The Sporting Blog
... to be borderline sexist, if not misogynistic. Ozzie Guillen managed to pull off both of these feats in the span of one series in Toronto. First, the tirade, which you ve surely seen enough to repeat verbatim, assuming you could understand half of what Guillen says. All I know is there s a lot of F-Bombs, and something about Chicago loving the Cubs more despite being a perennial failure: So yeah, freaking out in front of reporters is one way to fire your team up. The other way: A blow-up doll ...
A Blow-up Doll in the Locker Room? Cancel the World Series!
Published 5/6/2008 by pnoles at Fire Jay Mariotti
Carol Slezak chimes in for the benefit of all things vagina. White Sox blew it by allowing sexist shrine Blew what? Monday's game? The season? Your own personal level of respect for the White Sox? (One, and only one, of those three are correct.) White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen curses this city for failing to give the Sox organization proper respect, but he has no problem with the infantile and sexist "shrine" his players erected in their locker room. What a double-standard! Ozzie wants the city to respect a baseball team, but ...
On Ozzie Guillen and Blow-Up Dolls
Published 5/6/2008 by Fornelli at Foul Balls
... While watching the White Sox play baseball the last few weeks has done a lot to help push me to the brink of climbing a clock tower with a sniper rifle, at least they're providing me with plenty of fodder for the blog here. Whether it's just how much they suck, Ozzie playing mad-libs, or now with they way they view women. Apparently Ozzie and the Sox thought the best way to break out of their hitting slump was to turn to blow-up dolls . Designed to help the team break out of its slump, the shrine featured two female blow-up dolls surrounded by ''strategically placed'' baseball ...
Chicago White Sox Blow Up Doll Slump Busters
Published 5/6/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Major League players all have their own ways of busting out slumps. Some sacrifice their bats, others switch it up and try teammates bats, some many go out and cheat on their wives.
How about the Chicago White Sox? Apparently they threat their bats to some blow up dolls and who knows what else. Apparently this was all done right out in the open, enough so that a local Chicago female beat reporter is offended.
Carol Slezak of the Chicago Sun-Times writes:
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen ...
White Sox Conduct Infuriates Blow-Up Dolls
Published 5/6/2008 by Hick Flick at Rumors and Rants
... Since I'm not a female, it's hard for me to share the same outrage that Sun-Times columnist Carol Slezak felt regarding this dynamic duo of slumpbusters. But I did decide to go straight to the source and ask the two young blow-up dolls in question how they felt. Unfortunately, they could not answer as there was something in each of their mouths at the time. ...

I find the antics of Ozzie Guillen to be annoying. I'm not sure I understand why, however, the White Sox are being the team in Chicago singled out as being sexist pigs. You're telling me Ryan Dempster hasn't ever ...
Austrian Rugby Team Loses, Strips In Public
Published 5/6/2008 by HG at YOU BEEN BLINDED
... I guess I’ll never understand rugby. Can you imagine if American teams started adopting this policy? There would be videos of the Los Angeles Clippers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Arizona Cardinals singing naked floating around the internet on a weekly basis. All of a sudden, Ozzie Guillen’s blow-up dolls don’t look so bad. ...
RW370 : Put Ozzie’s Sox Out Of Their Misery
Published 5/6/2008 by GC at Can't Stop The Bleeding
Blow-up dolls and Cubbie baiting aside (?), the 2008 Chicago White Sox are immersed in another soap opera-ish campaign, one that has Rob Warmowski suggesting a step a little more drastic than anything Jimmy Leyland employed yesterday,
While the Sox have every right to be concerned about repeating - with depressing exactness - the awful 2007 season of wasted pitching via petulant non-hitting, this is the wrong approach. As badly-needed motivational initiatives go, instead of one ...

Home Run of the Day - 5/05 - Matt Stairs

... these days.
But instead, we’ll go North of the Border, where Matt Stairs scored the only run of the Jays-White Sox ballgame last night in Toronto.
The Home Run put the finishing touches on the Blue Jays’ four-game sweep of the White Sox.
Something tells me that the White Sox bats might come alive after this road trip. And it has nothing to do with Ozzie’s Guillen’s rant or the Blow-Up Doll Shrine the Sox had in the locker room before Monday’s game.
It might have more to do with ...
Congratulations, Slezak; You’re a Dumbass
Published 5/7/2008 by Bad Kermit at Hire Jim Essian!
... Well, Carol Slezak, congratulations. You’re up in arms once again, bitching and moaning about the White Sox for putting inflatable sex dolls in their locker room. Let me repeat that, Carol. IN THEIR LOCKER ROOM. Far be it from me to defend the White Sox for anything, but Slezak has about as much right to complain about what the Sox do in their locker room as I do to complain about the lack of urinals in a lesbian bar. There’s no goddamn reason for either one of us to be there, anyhow, so both of us should just shut up. ...
Sox Shrine: Blown Way Out of Proportion
Published 5/7/2008 by Panger at Foul Balls
... Dear Ms. Slezak, I read your column yesterday , the one where you excoriated the White Sox organization for the players' blow-up doll "shrine" erected (no pun intended) in their Toronto locker room earlier this week. You called it sexist and had some pretty harsh words for the players and their bosses: I'm sure the players' moms, wives, sisters and daughters are really proud of them. Way to go, guys. And just so we're clear, the tired ''boys will be boys'' excuse no longer works. But it starts at the top. I'm pretty sure Guillen was born without a sensitivity chip, but what ...

The ChiSox’ slump-busting (?) Love Doll furor continues to rage across the heartland, as Foul Balls’ Panger takes on Carol Slezak of the Chicago Sun-Times.
What other place of business in America grants reporters unfettered access to its employees, much less the right to watch as its workers drop trou and shower? Hell, I’d love to take notes while playing “pass the TP” in the stall next to Mariotti but can’t get past the security at the Sun-Times front door.
You’re concerned that female ...
