Let's just say that he won't be batting leadoff again (or anywhere else in the lineup) any time soon. On second thought, he might be an improvement over Juan Uribe at second base for my White Sox. Big ups to the ever-vigilant Awful Announcing. What does waiving Uribe accomplish?

It appears that the White Sox have placed Juan Uribe on irrevocable waivers , though we shouldn't expect any confirmation of such until he has been claimed or passed through them completely, as they are supposed to be confidential. By rule, the White ...Uribe waived, and now we wait

I'm going to withold most judgment on the Juan Uribe situation until more details emerge, the primary one being whether the waivers are revocable. In the meantime, the Cheat has an excellent second base primer to hold everybody over. A couple more thoughts to add:...( read more )What’s the deal with Juan Uribe?

Up until a few minutes ago, my feelings were that Juan Uribe was in the driver’s seat in the chase for the second base job with the White Sox. That was before I logged onto chicagosports.com and read that a report “from a major league scout” claimed he had been placed on waivers. But no one informed Uribe about this decision and Ozzie Guillen acted as if he knew nothing ...If The White Sox Waived Juan Uribe, He Has No Clue

The resigning of Juan Uribe by the White Sox this offseason was a little peculiar, seeing as they snatched Orlando Cabrera from the Angels to play his position as well as inking Cuban Alexi Ramirez to play middle infield. (These moves were made after the resigning, but still.) However, if radio reports are to be believed today , it looks like the Sox are putting Uribe on waivers -- so he ...Juan Uribe waived? That’s news to him

Reports continued to circulate around the White Sox camp that the club placed former starting shortstop Juan Uribe on waivers prior to today’s game with Colorado. The first news of this move came on WSCR-AM (670). If true, it would be news to Uribe, as well as his agent Martin Arburua, who said, “I haven’t heard anything like that.’’ Arburua, who is in Florida, also went on to say, ...Would Uribe be a good fit

This week is when teams cut players they respect but just don't have room for, it allows a veteran player the chance to catch on with another team before the end of spring training. This appears to be the case for one of the White Sox's key players in their 2005 World Series Championship run. Juan Uribe is a 29 y/o right handed hitting middle infielder, who it appears that the White Sox are ...White Sox Expected To Place Uribe On Waivers

George Ofman of WSCR 670 out of Chicago is reporting that the Chicago White Sox are expected to place short-stop Juan Uribe on waivers. The 27-year old has adequate power, hitting 41 home-runs the past two seasons, but hasn’t been able to hit for a consistent average. You got to believe that both the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are going to look at Uribe, as ...Waive Bye-Bye

Kenny Williams may occasionally take more grief from the stat geek community than warranted, but he’s gonna deserve what they’re about to say this time. Mere months after signing Juan Uribe to a one year $4.5 million deal, they have apparently placed him on waivers . No one with any sense is going to claim him as he surely is going to fetch a lot less than $4.5 million when he ...Juan Uribe waived

According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune (click here for his article), the Chicago White Sox have decided to waive Juan Uribe. He had been competing for the starting second baseman job this spring.White Sox Waive Uribe

The White Sox placed infielder Juan Uribe on waivers Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. This means that if he is not claimed within 72-hours, he must be released and pay his full 4.5 million dollars. I assume the Orioles will pick him up to improve their middle infield, but I wouldn't rule out the Cardinals as well. Uribe is having a good spring and is a pretty decent player, but ...Uribe Waived by Chi-Sox

According to the Chicago Tribune , the Chicago White Sox have waived second baseman Juan Uribe. If no one claims Uribe off waivers in the next 72 hours, the Sox have to release him and pay him the $4.5 million that is owed to him. Uribe was batting .333 this spring, and was seen as the Sox front-runner to win the starting second baseman’s job heading into 2008. Where do the Sox go ...White Sox Release Juan Uribe?

According to WSCR 670 The Score out of Chicago, the White Sox have released infielder Juan Uribe . Does that mean they have to eat his entire $4.5MM salary? The one team I've seen linked to Uribe is the Orioles , who currently have a need at shortstop and may have one at second if they trade Brian Roberts .Brian Roberts To White Sox?

This comes as a surprise after the Cubs and Orioles have been talking about a trade for over four months now. However, Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Orioles have been scouting Juan Uribe, and have also been spotted a few of the White Sox minor league games. The Orioles are looking for a middle infielders and adding Juan Uribe at shortstop while acquiring four or ...Ozzie's roster thoughts

it's full speed ahead for the torpedo boat : Ozzie Guillen's comments to reporters in Maryvale on Monday seem to indicate the competitive field at second base has dwindled from four at the start of Spring Training to two, with Opening Day sitting a mere two weeks removed.
