Who are these Magic dudes, and why don’t I know about them
Listening in to the streaming feed of the oh-so-important Bulls-Magic Summer League matchup has been revelatory, but not because of the basketball. The two dudes providing play-by-play have been everything I need in basketball commentary: laughter. I like to think I understand most of the major tenets of the game, so while I like to have Jeff Van Gundy’s brand of wisdom, I don’t ... [link]

Orlando's Summer League Announcers Are Insane
Published 7/8/2008 by Awful Announcing- (noreply@blogger.com) at Awful Announcing
I don't even know where to begin with these two, so I'll try to give you as much information on these two as a I can. The two announcers in question are named Dante and Galante and by all accounts are podcasters for OrlandoMagic.com. That's all I know besides the fact that they are on the call for the Orlando Summer League this month and they are absolutely insane. The Postmen took down some quotes and notes yesterday and I decided to take some video later on in the night. Enjoy! – Repeated references to how horrible Aaron Gray is. For ...

Audio of the Day: Dante and Galante, summer league announcers

... by volunteer crossing guards. Ugly stuff. Thankfully, though, Dante and Galante, two random OrlandoMagic.com podcasters, were behind the mics, calling the "action." Their sarcastic, off-the-wall humor made the games much more enjoyable. (Especially when they read my e-mail "on air.") Awful Announcing has the mini highlight reel: The Postmen jotted down some hilarious must-read quotes and notes, but they missed my favorite exchange from the day: ...

The Only Reason to Watch the Summer League
Published 7/8/2008 by Marcel Mutoni at SLAM Online
The TV announcers are apparently out of their minds, and if your email is clever enough (like the one sent in by our boy J.E. Skeets), it might just make it on the air. ...

Orlando Summer League: The Dante and Galante Show
Published 7/10/2008 by Nick Friedell at Ball Don't Lie
... action this week, you've probably been wondering who the two guys doing the commentary are. Marchitelli, the play-by-play guy, is a jack-of-all trades in the Magic's media department, providing sideline reports for the team's radio and television broadcasts, as well as occasionally hosting the team's local weekly wrap-up show. Galante, the color commentator/e-mail reader, is the Magic's Director of Communications. Over the course of the week, these two have developed a cult-like following on the Internet, by providing witty, sometimes off the wall ...

Ball Attacks Doc At Summer League Game
Doc Rivers at the Orlando Summer League (AP Photo) Doc Rivers took the short drive from his permanent (a.k.a: income tax free) residence to take in a summer league game. In the midst of it all… he got busted in the face by a basketball. Ball Don’t Lie picks it up from there: The Bulls’ Marcel Jones accidentally kicked a ball on defense that hit Rivers almost ...
Summer League: Beasley vs. Rose
Watching the choppy, streaming video of the Miami Heat playing the Chicago Bulls in the Orlando Summer League has proven one thing to me: there will not be enough basketballs to go around in Miami. Every trip down the court, Beasley (22 min. 9-21 FGA, 9-12 FTA, 9 reb., 28 pts.) would stretch out his hands and wave at Mario Chalmers as if he had to ask his kindergarten teacher for permission ...
