Who makes the most in NFL? Signing bonuses tell the story
Seymour, who signed a contract extension that included about $24 million in bonuses, socked away nearly $24.7 million for the past year's work, according to USA TODAY's annual survey of player compensation. But for 2007 he has a base salary of $600,000 and will drop down the list after his moonshot payday. That's one of the oddities of the NFL's economic system, in which certain bonuses, ... [link]

NFL Jonesin’: Tice boogies, T.O. sues
Published 7/3/2007 by Adam at Pacman Jonesin' | Game Over, Byotch
... Believe it or not, Patriots D-lineman Richard Seymour easily made more money than any other NFL player in ‘06, grossing just under $25 million. Most of that total was due to a redunkulous $24 M in bonuses. Drew Brees came in second at $22 M. The craziest thing about Seymour’s contract is that in ‘07 he’ll only make what T.O. sues clubs for, also known as $600,000. ...

Vikings Really Appreciate Their Offensive Lineman
Published 7/3/2007 by danzinski at The Viking Age | A Blog For Minnesota Vikings Fans
Fans may often forget about the big old hogs who do the dirty work up front in football, but teams appreciate their value - and are willing to compensate them accordingly. Especially the Vikings . Who Makes Most in NFL?
Published 7/6/2007 by Aaron Schatz at N/A
Who Makes Most in NFL? USA Today s annual NFL salary database has been updated with 2006 numbers, and it turns out the highest-paid player in 2006 was Richard Seymour. You know, from that team that refuses to pay players what they are worth, the Patriots. Of course, he s only number one because USA Today is counting all signing bonuses up front, and Seymour s was an astronomical $24 million. Plus, paying Seymour that much money makes a lot more sense than what the Vikings are paying Bryant McKinnie (third on the list) and what the Lions are paying Jeff Backus (fifth). Sort through the database. Find interesting things. Discuss. posted 7-6-2007 at 4:14 PM by ...

Colts burning question: Favorite to repeat?

Great question, and the writer says 'probably not', mostly because so many things have to come together at the right time. This is why the NFL is so great - every year, things are pretty much wide open. While there are a few favorites, you could make a good case for 10 or more teams, and the actual Superbowl winner could be none of them. NBA needs to learn a little...
