Why bother booing Dusty? Just appreciate Lou :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Jay Mariotti
He keeps using Dr. Phil words such as "heal'' and "recharge'' and "cleanse,'' as if Cubdom was a cesspool that left him three-showers-a-day dirty. Look, the reason Dusty Baker got fired was because Dusty Baker went bad. He overused Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. He dwelled too much on death threats and race and didn't have enough fun. Can You Go Home Again?

... So we are witness, this week, to something that's happened rarely in Cub history. Will I boo? Probably not. Indifference, in my opinion, is the best reaction. Jay Mariotti, who I often criticize here, has it exactly right today: ...

What else is new?

Baker is expecting to be ...

Baseball’s Season of Love Continues – Dusty Returns to Wrigley
Published 4/16/2008 by Ben Schwartz at Can't Stop The Bleeding
... . I’m surprised Baker didn’t boo Wood when he saw him. In the post-Buckner, post-Bartman, post-steroids, post-756 Bonds sign in SF, post-Banks statue era of baseball, when all that’s on the minds of Cub fans is how best to honor Kerry Wood’s near dozen injury free innings with the perfect intro song, even Jay Mariotti is offering Dusty Baker a pardon: “He isn’t fighting billy goats and black cats in Cincinnati, where the Reds have had their glory days and championship machine and still honor their tainted hometown icon via vomit-inducing ...
