Why Kevin McHale Still Doesn’t Get it and Kevin Love Won’t Fit in Minnesota
Future All Star Al Jefferson is the second star power forward after Garnett in Timberwolves history, but McHale is intent on misusing his talents as well by forcing him to play center. It's a position where Big Al is uncomfortable and statistically half as effective. Meanwhile, Kevin Love could be great, but by all accounts he will be completely redundant with Jefferson. It's a crying shame. [link]

Kevin McHale made a trade. How do they love it in Minnesota?
Published 6/30/2008 by Sam Rubenstein at SLAM Online
By Sam Rubenstein Not much! As a Minnesotan I was extremely apprehensive heading into this draft. Anybody who roots for the Timberwolves should be nervous about every draft headed by Kevin McHale. He has a history of botching these things and a stubborn refusal to simply take the best player available. It started back in 1996 when McHale swapped Ray Allen for Stephon Marbury and continued without fail into recent years with draft-night decisions like trading the rights to Brandon Roy for Randy Foye and ...

... As you consider Kevin Love in Minnesota, remember that the numbers show Al Jefferson is much more effective as a power forward than as a center. And if Love gets big minutes, surely he'll have to be playing power forward. That said, good teams have at least four quality bigs, so you add them when you can. Also, rookies seldom start. And Love, for one, is super confident that he can share the floor very effectively with Big Al. So we'll see what happens. But don't buy the "oh good, now Al Jefferson can move to his natural position" line. ...
