Actually, it's too much Pistons for the Celtics to handle in the conference finals...

Way to find a pic of Paul Pierce doing the Kyle Korver.

    Their coach is Doc Rivers.

As a Celtics fan, I say, good point.

You mean 3 time Coach of the Month Doc Rivers?

All of those questions are rehashed from the preseason.  Its like someone dusted off an old post with arguments from August.  Paul Pierce has played unselfish basketball from day 1 this year.  Rajon Rondo has been taking a lot of jumpers... and he's shooting 49%.  Kendrick Perkins is option #5... and all he needs to do is dunk when he gets the ball 2 feet from the rim....

... unless you propose he takes 3 backwards dribbles and shoots a fadeaway.

    Sent you an email, RedsArmy.

Don't crucify me too much guys, as part of a series I had to make an argument of why the Celtics aren't going to win -- and it's a lot harder than one might think.

That being said, Doc Rivers is still a pretty terrible coach.  Having a successful season when you're supposed to doesn't validate a career of ineptitude.

In actuality, I fully expect the Celtics to come out the East, and maybe win it all.  It's damn hard to argue against this team, and with the regular season they put together that really should come as no surprise

Ah... I see what you're saying now.  I will dispute the Doc Rivers comment, though.  He IS a former Coach of the Year.  Take a look at what other teams are doing with the talent he had.  Minnesota is pretty crappy.  Gerald Green is out of the league.

Doc could have done some things better.  But he took the fall for a lot too.  I guess that's what coaches do, though.

The thing about Doc is that he's perfect for this team... or any veteran team.  He has certain expectations from players... and a team full of rookies doesn't get that yet.

This is why I love BallHype.  Sprited discussions, misunderstandings forging new alliances. If only Erin hadn't called my beloved Element a stupid car.

... only one that sees that the Lakers DON’T PLAY ANY REAL TEAM DEFENSE??  Aren’t the Celtics the best defensive team in the league?  Isn’t that rule #1 in the playoffs?  Bad defensive teams get upset… good defensive teams advance.  The lesson here:  The pressure of the NBA playoffs applies to analysts too.  They try to over-think things… and they end up talking themselves out of making the smart pick.  I started to crucify Upside And Motor for declaring the C’s won’t win it all this way: ...

Hollinger Good on Boston, Really?

It is interesting to note how some writer’s forget who it was that said the Celtics had a weak bench, perhaps lacking the entire package needed for a championship run. In Weak Bench Theory Debunked, we are reminded that Hollinger started to come around on the Celtics in December 2007, but that October prediction was silly, where we had to Clear the Air with Hollinger.
