Why the Tampa Bay Rays should sign Barry Bonds
There isn't a team that couldn't use him as a DH or as at least a third outfielder. The above is certainly true of my beloved Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who I sincerely hope will indeed sign The G-POPE. Obviously, signing Bonds makes baseball sense for our D-Rays. The real issues are money, public perception, clubhouse reception and whether or not Bonds would want to play in Tampa. [link]

Bonds Continues To Wait
Published 4/17/2008 by Tim Dierkes at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
... What's up with Barry Bonds?  Not a whole lot.  The New York Times' Jack Curry dug up what he could by talking to a few associates of Bonds.  Curry found that Bonds is working out at home and staying in shape, but not hitting.  Curry is on board with the speculation that an opportunity for Bonds might open up if a DH on a contender goes down. This morning, David Chalk made a case for the Rays to sign Bonds.  He can't find a reason why they shouldn't. ...

... Topkin’s St. Pete Times column: Friday morning’s advisory of a 1 p.m. “major announcement” drew calls asking if the Devil Rays were signing Barry Bonds, including one from a curious MLB official. Andy Pettitte got in trouble several times Tuesday night. He got out of trouble and put the Yankees in position to win the game, which they did. That is the difference between a veteran pitcher and a young pitcher. Call it grit, guile, or guts…whatever you want. What Pettitte brought to the Yankees Tuesday night against Tampa is what the Yankees need Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy to deliver.
