Wie DQ'd from State Farm Classic
Published 7/19/2008 by Mulligan Stu at Waggle Room: Front Page Posts
... the comeback: Wie failed to sign her scorecard after Friday’s second round. She showed up Saturday and shot 5-under 67 to finish alone in second at 17 under, one stroke back of Yani Tseng. That’s when Wie learned of the LPGA’s ruling. The 18-year-old Wie, who appeared to have been crying, told reporters she made a mistake. “I don’t know how it happened,” she said. This makes me very sad. (Story)

The Shark Remains On Course, Wie Derailed
Published 7/19/2008 by Signal to Noise at SPORTSbyBROOKS
Obviously, Greg Norman’s current stance as the leader of the British Open through 54 holes tells us two things: I need to be up at 6 AM Pacific tomorrow to catch the impending collapse live (despite the fact that Norman has won this tournament twice, he’s still living down the ‘96 Masters) and Chris Evert has to be the mythical “Fountain Of Youth” that Spanish explorers came to the New World to search for centuries ago. Greg Norman and Chris Evert While I expect Norman to give us a nice little fall on Sunday for old time’s sake, at least if he falters, it will be because of play on the course or because Padraig Harrington, K.J. Choi , or someone else in the ...

Michelle Wie DQ'd from the State Farm Classic
Published 7/20/2008 at Kiel Christianson
Wow. Just when we thought Michelle Wie had faded, finally, from the limelight, she found herself in the clubhouse Saturday alone in second place at the State Farm Classic in Springfield, Illinois. That position didn’t last long, though, as she was summarily informed that she was being DQ’ed for failing to sign her card in a timely manner the day before. Ouch. Don’t they teach kids anything at Stanford these days? Like, maybe, turning in your homework on time? Or signing your scorecard before you walk out of the roped off players’ area? Well, that’s apparently what Wie did. Or rather, failed to ...

Michelle Wie gets DQ’d… and for once she was actually doing well
Published 7/20/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
It seems like it wasn’t that long ago that Michelle Wie exploded onto the golf scene and according to the “experts” she was supposed to be the fully asian, female version of Tiger Woods. She’s still workin’ on that. Despite the fact that she is yet to actually win an event at the professional level, she actually looked pretty this weekend at the State Farm Classic in Springfield, Illinois. Then she made a pretty basic mistake… she failed to sign her scorecard before leaving the scoring area. That mistake got her disqualified from the tournament. Doh! ...

You all look like you could use some POOP!!!
Published 7/21/2008 by flyingpig at Real Sports Bloggers
Okay, so it’s been awhile since I’ve dished out some juicy pellets of the stuff we love to stick our fingers in. You know, those Dairy Queen swirls of Pig Droppings that we’ve all learned to refer to as Pig Poop. I find poop every day and I have been remiss in not sharing the poop with all of you. So STFU, sit back and enjoy the latest insatllment. I’m not the only one who hates Ohio State!!! But I am a new fan of an NFL quarterback. It sure is ballsy to be the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals (Yes, Cincinnati OHIO) and then start bad mouthing their beloved Buckeyes. However, that is exactly what Carson Palmer ...

Michelle Wie's Unfortunate State Farm Mishap
It was an honest mistake... there's no question about that... but a mistake it was. A rather monumental one, as it turned out, for Michelle Wie . Wie Shoots 67-65, Good for 2nd Place, Forgets to Sign Scorecard, Promptly DQ'd
I'm pretty sure we can't blame Bo Wie for this, but that's surely no consolation to his daughter, Michelle. After almost two years of uninspired golf, Wie, now a 19-year-old Stanford student trying to earn her LPGA Tour card, put together two of her best rounds in recent memory. Heading into the weekend, she was in second place at the State Farm Classic. That lasted about two minutes . For ...

It's Beginning To Look Like Her Career Is A Disappointment [Michelle Wie]
Before Greg Norman urinates away his chances of winning the British Open, let's give him some perspective. At least he signed his third round scorecard. Once she left the area, it was too late to go back and ...

Michelle Wie's sloppiness leads to her disqualification
San Francisco Chronicle columnist Gwen Knapp writes how Michelle Wie's sloppiness led to her disqualification... "A well-trained golfer doesn't leave the scorers' tent without signing her card, not even for the few fateful seconds that Wie apparently strayed from the area Friday before volunteers called her back. It might seem like a small thing, but that tardy signature spelled sloppiness. " ...
Michelle Wie Is Forgetful, Regretful
Just when it looked like Michelle Wie might actually do something productive on the LPGA tour, she goes out and flubs it all up with a bone-headed move. Ms. Wie last graced the pages here at LBS because of the news that she was dating former Stanford basketball star Robin Lopez . Prior to that, it was for withdrawing from an event and then later pulling out of one because of a wrist injury. ...
LPGA Milks Michelle Wie, Kills Santa
And like a good neighbor, State Farm is....hey, where'd ya go??? Michelle Wie shot a 65 at the State Farm Classic Friday and for whatever reason- excitement over being tied for the lead, requests for various interviews, or just unaccustomed to actually making it through two days of a tournament- she walked outside of the scorer's tent without signing her scorecard. Fortunately, a volunteer ...

Michelle Wie earns her State Farm DQ with dumb mistake, but LPGA shows inept heartless bureaucracy too
Michelle Wie made one of those dumb mistakes that a golfer in contention just cannot make. Wie forgot to sign her scorecard before leaving the scoring area after the second round of the State Farm Classic Friday. So she earned her latest disqualification. ...
Wie-ping on the Outside
A rule is a rule, but this one is pretty stupid. I've written about Michelle Wie here previously, mostly to talk about her no-longer-deserved phenom status, or her latest pathetic performance on the golf course. Meanwhile, On the LPGA
Michelle Wie shot 65 today in the State Farm Classic, following up a first-round 67, is 12-under and one off the lead of Christina Kim. Can she hang on and finish Top 5?
