ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Matt Foy and Aaron Voros filled in well for Minnesota's missing offensive threats. Foy scored for the first time in more than two years, Voros and Brent Burns added goals for the second time in two games, and the Wild beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 Sunday. Stephane Veilleux also scored for Minnesota, which won for the fourth time in 12 games and moved past the ... [link]

Making Puck: Liar, Liar edition

We start off the shortened holiday weekend with an oft-forgotten movie that is the story of my life. Jim Carrey’s foray between the Ace Ventura movies. The best courtroom scene in modern American drama. And also the perfect theme for when psycho ex-girlfriends come stalking around the blog. (Ed. note: IP addresses are tracked real easily these days, sweetie. Find a new hobby.) Only three games last night, so after the jump, let’s go to the videotape AP Recaps! Here goes: I sped. I followed too closely. I ran a stop sign. I almost hit a Chevy. I sped some more. I failed to yield at a crosswalk. I changed lanes at the intersection. I changed lanes without signaling while running a ...

Recap: Wild 4, Avalanche 1

I’m not really sure what to write here. The Avalanche followed up their worst game of the season on Friday with their second-worst game of the season. The Wild dumped the Avalanche 4-1 in a game that had a lot of similarities to the Debacle in Dallas™. The game started out fast, with both teams grabbing some early chances. The Wild settled down quickly on defense, but the Avalanche couldn’t quite do the same. Minnesota gathered momentum as the period went on, and finally scored with about 4 minutes left. The Wild’s 4th line - consisting of recent AHL call-up Aaron Voros, 9-game healthy scratch Matt Foy and rookie James Sheppard - took advantage of a John-Michael Liles ...

... out of action for at least a week. Ohlund was later suspended for 4 games by the NHL. So on Sunday night, in their first game back home and in their third game in four nights, now playing without Pavol Demitra, Wes Walz, and Mikko Koivu up front, Minnesota got two goals from the little used Aaron Voros - Matt Foy - James Sheppard line to beat Colorado 4-1 and take a 1 point lead over the Avs in the Northwest Division standings. Foy's goal was apparently his first in more than two years. The Wild are back in action on Wednesday at home against ...

Notes: Game 19, Avalanche at Wild

After all my whining, I was able to find the game on Center Ice. It’d the FSN crew (again), Dan Terhaar and Mike Greenlay. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m quite fond of this crew. Greenlay is very insightful, and both are ...

Wild Beat up Avalanche 4-1

D'oh! This has been a brutal roadtrip so far. However, you could make an argument that it's getting better. 6-1. 4-1. Next game may end up 2-1. Then it's shutout time! Unfortunately, the next couple games are against the fiery Flames and the cocky ...

Wild rematch could get ugly

A game that should have been a celebration of red lights and a rare moment of goal-scoring glory for Vancouver's slumping offence degenerated into a series of cheap shots, post-game smack talk and at least one lingering injury. Instead of admiring the ...
