... in its stable, offers in Sunday's editions a lengthy piece by David Wharton that strongly suggests sports blogs have finally started cleaning up their act - once again operating under the assumption that every blog was gossipy trash. Lip service is barely paid to the idea that sports blogs have had integrity long before a site like ...

Monday quibbles

... On Sunday, David
Wharton of the Los Angeles Times seemed to breathe a sigh of relief audible
even out here in the sticks upon discovering that some of sporting blogdom's
lesser (if also its most popular) lights had passed on reprinting a gossip item
about a sports star that rose to the surface last month. ...

We Are Apparently ‘Edgy Outsiders’
Published 6/23/2008 by Chris Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
... The mainsteam media continues to totally get blogging. Yesterday, the L.A. Times published a ridiculous article about some make believe evolution that is occurring in blogging. Apparently, sports bloggers are putting on their big boy britches and moving out of their parent’s basement and into some realm of journalist integrity in this post-Buzz Bissinger gone wild world. This is the first I’d heard of this evolution, probably because it’s not true. Of course, to get the facts, the Times went straight to the source of journalistic ...

Three: Mister I is not “edgy” or “outsider,” which they’d be the first to tell you. Four: I don’t know too many other bloggers that share these views. Yet they are they are, in the L.A. Times, meant to represent us ...

Mmmmm, More Navel-Gazing
Published 6/24/2008 by Andrew Johnson at Defensive Indifference
... The original article, by David Wharton, was ridiculous. It basically claimed that the “Wild West” days of the sports blogosphere are coming to a close, which is true in a way and not true in others, but then oddly Wharton tried to credit Buzz Bissinger’s insane rant on CostasNow and the bloggers with supposed copy editors at MSM outlets for the higher level in discourse. ...
