Brand’s Decision Looms
Published 7/7/2008 by Marcel Mutoni at SLAM Online
by Marcel Mutoni
Even though just about everyone expects Elton Brand to team up with Baron Davis by re-signing with the Clippers, considering the Clip Show’s wretched history of luck, people in L.A. are understandably nervous.
No need to fear, Los Angelinos, EB is expected to deliver the good news very soon.
One source close to the process said Sunday night that Brand’s decision should be public knowledge within the “next 24 to 48 hours.”
There’s something else only Sterling can offer Brand that could help the Clippers seal this deal. A no-trade clause.
Unless ...
Non-Holiday News..

....Finally out of the 4th of July Weekend which means some actual news is coming out of the woodwork. Before I get to any of that...Federer + Nadal = Classic. You didn't have to like tennis to love that match. HoopsHype had a link to a Rudy Fernandez story with the tag line "If I don't get used (to the NBA) or I'm not given minutes, I may return to Spain. It's not a step back for me." I didn't read much into it, but I tried to read the story. It's in Spanish. Somehow the English translation makes it even worse. Now this got me to thinking a little bit...how is this team going to work next year? We've got some potential chemistry issues. I don't envy Nate I'll ...

... Marc Stein has the full recap of the situation as he sees and hears it at ESPN.com today. The good news is that he, like ourselves, thinks all signs point to Elton Brand signing with the Clippers. ...
L.A. Times Columnist Really Wants Elton Brand to Remain a Clipper
Published 7/7/2008 by Brett Edwards at FanHouse
Filed under: Clippers, NBA Media Watch, NBA Rumors, NBA VideosIt's not every day that you see tenured sports columnists making pleas -- on camera -- to a team's superstar that could possibly be skipping town for more money as a free agent. But that's exactly what we have here, as L.A. Times writer Bill Plaschke makes an impassioned (if somewhat odd) little video asking Elton Brand to remain a Clipper. Is it really that serious? I wasn't thinking that Brand would actually leave once Baron Davis signed, and after all, Baron isn't worried. And now that I ...
Unexpected Plan In Backcourt For Hicag?
Published 7/8/2008 at CelticsBlog
A Daily Babble Production Since the Bulls made Memphis point guard Derrick Rose the first pick in the 2008 draft a week and a half ago, there has been more than a bit of theorizing from observers across the Association that the end of Kirk Hinrich's days in Chicago are near. Hinrich is on the books for an onerous $36.5 million between now and 2012. He's also a point guard but no longer the franchise point guard. Thus, shipping him rather than paying quite a chunk of change to a back-up seems logical enough. But the actual plan may in fact be a third option. As ESPN's Marc Stein reported in yesterday's Daily Dime ...
Yes... [NBA]

... Boy, that escalated quickly. Wasn't it just last week when the sports pundits and the soundbite intelligentsia were all speculating that former Los Angeles Clipper, and free agent whale, Elton Brand would "probably" ignore the lavish offer sheet from the Golden State Warriors because "he loves L.A." so much and he's very "loyal." Right. ...

Elton Brand: Somehow, someway the Los Angeles Clippers are staying in the news this offseason. After just recently signing Baron Davis away from the Golden State Warriors last week, the Clippers have now lost Elton Brand to the Phildelphia 76ers. Brand agreed to a 5 year, $80 million dollar contract spurning the LA Clippers to join an up and coming 76ers team in the East. Now I don't claim to be a prophet of any sort but here is what I had to say about the 76ers after their second round postseason loss to the Detroit Pistons: Philadelphia is Gone Fishin' but they should be congratulated for having such a good ...
