Warriors vs Rockets Recap - Your Summer League Kickoff
Pounding The Rock — ... Joey Dorsey was the most impressive Rocket to me.  He did a great job of protecting the paint.  He finished with only 4 fouls which is amazing given how many collisions he was involved in.  He had zero plays run for him and had to work for his points.  He had a pair of very nice assists on backdoor cuts to Will Conroy.  They were his only 2 assists to go with 5 turnovers. ...

Summer League: Rockets 73 - Warriors 69
The Dream Shake — ... Boxscore Golden State of Mind   I didn't see much of the game.  From what I did see, it appeared that: A. Joey Dorsey needs a lot of work offensively. B. Chase Budinger plays exactly as he was scouted: jump-shot happy and soft in the lane. C. Garrett Temple and Will Conroy could make some noise pretty soon. D. Maarty Leunen is no Steve Novak.  But the Chronicle likes him nonetheless. E. Boom Tho needs to pay attention in the huddle.

Summer League: Rockets 98 - Mavericks 95
The Dream Shake — ... shooter around - he just doesn't seem very coordinated in that respect.  Thus, James' ability to get to the rim will be his calling card.  But for now, he's making Von Wafer look like Kobe Bryant on the drive.  Which is saying a lot, since Wafer's knock is his handle as well. -- Maarty Leunen can stroke it.  I haven't paid too much attention to what else he can do, but when he's nailed his opportunities thus far on the offensive end. -- Will Conroy is going to have a legitimate shot to make this ...

NBA Summer League Day Two Recap - The Breakouts
Pounding The Rock — ... don't think he's going to be able to handle the physical defense, he did show that he can shoot. Jermaine Taylor - The Rockets other second round pick showed he can also score by getting 15 points.  He's definitely one to keep an eye on. Joey Dorsey - The Beast Mugabi had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  He reminds me of the OLD Spurs.  He's a Bruise Brother(search for 'bruise') Will Conroy - Another JV clone.  Effective.  Does what he ...

It's Too Easy for Tyreke Evans
Sactown Royalty — ... . I also want to see him defend some top-flight point guards (with all due respect to Will Conroy) before I get too ahead of myself on the lofty words. ...

Summer League: Rockets 79 - Timberwolves 65
The Dream Shake — ... Though Will Conroy and Garrett Temple have been the two most hyped point guards on our Summer League roster, former Butler Bulldog Mike Green has been very impressive thus far, getting the start in today's game.  He's very comfortable with the ball and is composed on offense.  He doesn't rush or force the action, and he looks like a floor general out there.  At the end of the day, Green was 3-4 from the field and only had one turnover.  Though he hasn't exactly wowed anyone yet (and he's not going to), he has yet to show any reason not ...

Vegas Summer League Recap: Day 3
Ridiculous Upside — ... Rob Kurz didn't make much of an impression in the Orlando Summer League, but he had a decent game yesterday, making all three of his field goals (which included a pair of three-pointers).  He had four fouls and four turnovers, though.  Will Conroy had three assists and three rebounds in about 18 minutes, as well as a blocked shot.  He also had only two fouls and one turnover, which is nice to see.  ...

Summer League Recap: Budinger, Dorsey shine in Vegas
The Dream Shake — ... especially against the drive, but with his athleticism and quickness, it should only be a matter of motivation and committment.  That's good news for us, as Budinger, once projected to be a lottery pick, is already playing with a chip on his shoulder.  If he can prove to Daryl Morey and the Rockets that he is capable of being a reliable, but not necessarily imposing defender, Budinger should have no problem finding a spot on the active roster by the All-Star break. Will Conroy: B+ Will Conroy, aside from piling up a bunch of ...

ATS Summer League Microscope - Jerryd Bayless - Portland Trail Blazers
Pounding The Rock — ... Bayless didn't have the toughest of match ups in the Rockets game.  He was alternately going against Mike Green, Will Conroy, and Garrett Temple.  None of these guys have been rotation players in the NBA.  I don't any of them will be shortly. ...

In Which I Discuss Sun Yue In a Serious Manner
Ridiculous Upside — ... the players accessible to fans, but the argument for why the Summer League webcast cost money - that there are people devoting time and effort to the games who deserve to be compensated - applies to the D-League games as well.  I certainly hope that Futurecast won't cost money down the road, but Given The Current Economic Climate I also wouldn't be completely shocked to see it.  If people were willing to pay money to watch Wink Adams, they should be willing to pay to watch Will Conroy.  And while every team theoretically could pitch the fee ...

D-League Expansion Draft Tomorrow; RU Mock Draft Today
Ridiculous Upside — ... Gill was struggling.  I like Lucas primarily because he's younger and a little bit quicker.  As a point guard, he is a good, not great floor leader, who runs the offense smoothly and shot a blistering 45% from three last year.  He's solid as a scoring and passing PG, averaging about 15 points and 4.5 assists last season.  I also like Lucas because his assist-to-turnover ratio was 4:1, because hanging onto the ball is an important part of the game, no matter what Will Conroy might tell you. -- AD ...

Rockets Making Moves - Conroy Signed, White Traded
Ridiculous Upside — ... for the rights of Axel Hervelle.  The team then signed two players who had been in workouts for them, Will Conroy and Garrett Temple.  These are both pretty significant moves in RU-world, so let's talk about it in terms of what this means for each player, and for the teams involved. ...

White traded to Denver; Conroy, Temple sign
The Dream Shake — ... From Jonathan Feigen: The Rockets reworked their collection of guards to compete for roster spots, sending James White to the Denver Nuggets and signing Will Conroy and Garrett Temple. With White facing long odds to make the team, the Rockets traded White for the draft rights to Axel Hervelle, a 6-9 power forward from Belgium. Hervelle will likely remain with Real Madrid, where he is a teammate with guard Sergio Llull, a Rockets' second-round acquisition in June. He averaged 8.1 ...

The Dream Shake's 2009-2010 Houston Rockets Preview
The Dream Shake — ... What to expect in 2009-10: Not a whole lot...yet.  Now that Rashad McCants and Will Conroy have been brought in to scare the living hell out of any over-confident rookies, Taylor will have to work to make the team.  Assuming he does, he'll provide good scoring off the bench in the same way that Von Wafer did last season, though with predictably lower outputs.  Defensively, he still needs work, but there's no denying that he can put points on the board.  His minutes will be low, so he'll have to be money when ...

Old Clippers in New Uniforms
Clips Nation — ... State, the Warriors will be his 10th NBA team in his 12th NBA season. (The NBA record is 12 teams, held by Chucky Brown, Tony Massenburg and Jim Jackson.) Marcus Williams (the other one, the small forward, former Clipper) has an unguaranteed contract in San Antonio.  The Spurs appear to have 13 guaranteed contracts, so it may come down to Williams and Malik Hairston for a 14th spot, depending on how many players the Spurs decide to carry. Will Conroy is in camp with the Rockets, but doesn't appear to ...

Finally! Are You Ready for Some Basketball?!?
CelticsBlog — ... PM'd a Rockets fan and asked for his best guess as to who would start and went with that.  In the Rockets'  opener, Chuck Hayes started at center, Chase Budinger started at small forward and Trevor Ariza was the starting 2 guard.  That doesn't mean anything because Rick Adelman has said that he may have a different starting lineup for each preseason game until he settles on a rotation.  Off the Bench Brent Barry Chase Budinger Will Conroy Brian Cook Joey Dorsey Chuck ...

Last Night in the Preseason
Ridiculous Upside — ... I know this isn't every game from last night, but not every team has former D-Leaguers on their roster (at least not anymore - thanks a lot, Knicks), and there were some teams that have just one guy who didn't play well.  While I'm perfectly willing to call guys out who struggle (as you'll see below), I just don't see the point of making that the only thing I talk about with a particular game. Indiana Pacers 119, Houston Rockets 104 Will Conroy and Romel Beck finally got in the game for ...

The Rockets' roster seems to be set, doesn't it?
The Dream Shake — ... lineup (probable) SG/SF - Trevor Ariza PF/C - Luis Scola SG/SF - Shane Battier PG/midget in traveling circus - Aaron Brooks PF/C - Chuck Hayes --- scrubs/bench PF/C/SF - Carl Landry PG/resident bulldog - Kyle Lowry SF/PF/token white guy shooter - Chase Budinger SG/rookie beyotch - Jermaine Taylor ("sing it again!") PG/practice dummy - Will Conroy PF/C - David Andersen (he's here to keep Luis happy) ...

Ruminations from the Bench: Can Joey survive cut day?
The Dream Shake — [scene:  Rockets practice on Homer Simpson's favorite day of the year:  cut day] Joey:  Oh yeah!  Good day today.  After today, I never have to see the likes of any of you b*tches ever again. [Joey dunks the ball with no one guarding him... tries to rip the rim off... then glares in the direction of Romel Beck, Garrett Temple and Will Conroy.] *warning:  language NSFW after the jump*  [David ...

Waive Goodbye, Part 3
Ridiculous Upside — ... themselves of Nate Jawai, who hadn't been there all that long, but I suspect that was more of a cap move than anything.  D-League-wise, ESPN's Marc Stein things that rookie Rodrigue Beaubois could see some time in Alberquerque, as minutes could be hard to come by for him in Dallas.  Beaubois is definitely talented, and he had an intriguing Summer League, so he could be fun to watch for the Thunderbirds. Houston Rockets Who got cut: Will Conroy, Romel Beck, Garrett Temple Who got ...

Theme for the 2009-2010 D-League: Emo Rockers
Ridiculous Upside — ... But Swift and Pittsnogle are not the only tattooed and brooding D-Leaguers.  No, there is another whose attitude and emotional sensibilities cannot be ignored.  Yeah, that's right.  Will Conroy. ...

Ridiculous Transactions 10/26-11/1
Ridiculous Upside — ... played in France and Belgium last year, where he was a pretty good three-point shooter (save for his 10 games in France, where he shot less than 28 percent).  Six and a half or seven assists per 36 minutes is okay for a point guard, but that was his high point.  He turned his scoring up for his Belgian team in the EuroChallenge, averaging around 21 points a game.  He's 25 now, and is likely a career overseas guy, but he's a pretty good one. October 31: Will Conroy - signed with DongGuan New Century Leopards ...

Turnover at the Top
Ridiculous Upside — ... overseas this year, and it's true that there will be some unfamiliar faces jacking up perimeter shots next month.  But it's actually even more remarkable than I thought.  Heres is the list of last year's D-League award winners: MVP - Courtney Sims Defensive POY - Brent Petway Impact POY - Eddie Gill Rookie of the Year - Othyus Jeffers Coach of the Year - Quin Snyder Sportsmanship Award - Will Conroy Notice anything?  With the exception of perhaps ...

Joey Dorsey Assigned to Rio Grande Valley
The Dream Shake — ... Haven't heard anything about who will be replacing him on the roster.  Perhaps Will Conroy?  Guess we'll have to wait a little while to find out. ...
