Rams draft decision looms
Published 4/23/2008 by VanRam <info@turfshowtimes.com> at Turf Show Times
... change little, expect for maybe giving them another trade possibility in the draft and putting them "on the clock" for their pick in the draft. This much I'll bet you, the Rams won't make their first round pick until Saturday. League rules stipulate that only the team with the #1 pick can negotiate a contract. With that done, the Rams could now start negotiating with their pick. However, by all accounts they've yet to settle on who that pick will be. Note this from Linehan in the PD story: ...

Oakland Raiders: Breaking NEWS!

11:00 AM PST Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that even though the Rams have not made a firm decision on who they’ll select with their first pick of the 2008 NFL Draft, Glenn Dorsey, DT from LSU, is the likely choice. If the Rams were to select Dorsey, that would leave only the Falcons in the way of Chris Long coming to Oakland with the fourth pick of the draft.

Rams leaning toward Dorsey?
Update [2008-4-24 13:21:55 by VanRam]: Be sure to read 3k's take on the DT/DE/trade debate for the Rams draft. Note particularly that Carriker has beefed up to about 315, more in line with a DT than a DE, don't ya think? Ok, other than keeping an eye on the news, I don't know what else there is to say about the draft. The Rams will either pick Dorsey, Chris Long, Vernon Gholston or trade ...
Barring a trade, all signs pointing to Dorsey at No.2
At this point, all signs seem to be pointing to Louisiana State defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey as the St. Louis Rams ' choice according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. But there is also sentiment for defensive end Chris Long of Virginia, and to a lesser degree Ohio State's Vernon Gholston. And as of Wednesday evening, one team official said, "It's not a clear-cut choice." Of course, a ...

NFL Draft Jabber 4/24/08
The Rams are on the clock. Glenn Dorsey and Chris Long would look good here (or a trade to New Orleans). The Rams would like to start negotiating but the league says notta. “They cannot (negotiate),” a league official told the Post-Dispatch via e-mail Wednesday afternoon. “That has been our policy. Plenty of intrigue at '08 NFL Draft
The folks at ESPN must be delighted at all of the intrigue surrounding this year's NFL Draft, which it will be televising wall-to-wall for the 28th year. What we know is the Miami Dolphins will make Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long the first player chosen. What we think we know are which five players will come off the board next. What we have no idea about are where these guys are going. ...
Raiders’ fate rests on Falcons decision
With Jake Long signed by the Miami Dolphins, the first pick of the draft is already locked in. This leaves the Rams and Falcons picking ahead of the Oakland Raiders, and both teams have the potential to take the players that the Raiders should covet the most. With the second pick, the St. Louis Rams are most likely to take Glenn Dorsey or Chris Long. With the third pick, the Atlanta ...

On the Clock
The Miami Dolphins have not only decided to draft OT Jake Long out of Michigan with the first overall pick, they have already signed him to a contract. The deal is for five years and is valued at $57.5 million, with $30 million of it guaranteed money. The football community will be abuzz with discussion of the pick in the coming days, but for the St. Louis Rams, this means only one thing: ...
The Rams are Officially on the Clock
I think the Rams are bummed. I don't care what anyone says about Glenn Dorsey or Chris Long or Vernon Gholston . Jake Long was the guy the Rams' wanted, and with him heading to South Beach they'll have to look in another direction. Not that they don't have options -- the aforementioned three top prospects would all help St. Louis, and there are trade possibilities to be had . So what'll they ...
Jake Long now off the Rams board
Well, that takes care of that. The Dolphins and Jake Long have agreed to a five year, $57.5 million contract, with $30 million guaranteed. (More on the Long scoop at the Phinsider .) This means, besides the fact that the Rams are on the clock, and our choices for the #2 pick seem most likely to be Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Gholston. Gholston would still be my choice, and I'd think ...

Falcons Being Set Up For Glenn Dorsey Pick
If you believe NBC Sports writer Tom Curran , the Dolphins are extremely close to agreeing on a contract with OT Jake Long. Let the gnashing of teeth and weeping commence. What's interesting about this is that Curran thinks the Rams will also snap up Chris Long at #2 in this scenario, which leaves the Falcons with a clear choice between Matt Ryan, Glenn Dorsey and perhaps Sedrick Ellis. ...
Goodbye Longs, Hello Dorsey
The Rams should draft Glenn Dorsey with the second pick in next weekend’s draft. There. I said it. And I’m glad. Let’s pretend for a moment that Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins don’t exist and that, as a result, the Rams have the four men considered the elite players in this draft at their disposal. Just in case any reader happened to have returned from ...
