Will the Giants deal Vizquel? Can they? Links3
(07-21) 19:23 PDT -- Shortstop Omar Vizquel poses a sticky wicket for the Giants. On one hand, they surely want to see prospects such as Emmanuel Burriss and Ivan Ochoa at shortstop for the rest of the season. But with Vizquel hitting .166, he might be difficult to trade. A’s Roster Moves: Donnie Murphy DFA’ed, Brooks Conrad up
Published 7/22/2008 by Graham Goldbeck (noreply@blogger.com) at Oaktown Awesomer's: An Oakland A's Blog
The A's finally designated a player for assignment yesterday. Unfortunately it was not this blog's favorite DFA target Emil Brown, but A's utility player Donnie Murphy. Murphy has shown some potential in the past, hitting .326/.385/.509 in AAA last year in 175 AB. He would get it at the major leagues, where he hit .188/.278/.307 this year in 115 PA. While not a large sample of PA, a sub .600 OPS is just terrible, even for a utility infielder. Since he didn't bring anything spectacular on defense he was DFA'ed and replaced by ...

Thank You, Day Off

As a person with little motivation to write on a regular basis I truly relish knowing that the Tribe have an off day, meaning I can postpone the series review post. Yesterday was no exception, obviously. Even though the Tribe played a get-the-hell-out-of-here-and-back-to-the-east-coast-before-tomorrow day game after seeing the score I thought to myself “this can wait for tomorrow” and wait it did. Monday’s series opener saw the Indians coming in hot off a series win (2-1) against Seattle a team worst than the Tribe. The Angels came in after sweeping the Red Sox, what some people would consider a good team. That and given the matchups you might have wanted to ...
