One of the ways to judge the effectiveness of a manager is to see if he puts his players in a position to succeed. Reliever Scott Schoeneweis is murder against lefty batters but can’t get out righty batters. A good manager would put Schoeneweis in the game against a lefty batter that his manager won’t pitch hit for in a crucial situation. [link]
