MLB.com: Willis headed to Tigers’ bullpen Dontrelle Willis is rejoining the Tigers, but he’ll be doing so in the bullpen. Manager Jim Leyland announced Wednesday that the team will activate Willis from the 15-day disabled list, but Willis will not return to the rotation. Instead, he’ll pitch in relief while the Tigers try to work on his pitching. It might be a while. The Tigers are going to use the D-Train as baseball's most expensive long reliever while they try to work out the problems that plagued him before his injury. Dontrelle Willis According to Jason Beck of mlb.com (click here for the article), Dontrelle Willis has been activated from the disabled list, though he will not be returning to the starting rotation. Instead he will pitch out of the bullpen while Armando Galarraga remains in the rotation. I would expect that this is just a temporary situation, with Willis returning to the rotation after he gets everything figured out, but I guess that is no guarantee. Willis was not very impressive in his minor league rehab stint, posting a 4.41 ERA over 3 starts. What is more disturbing was the walks iin his past two outings. Over just 11.2 innings he walked 7 batters, while striking out 7, ...
