Willis Sent to Lakeland
[ The Daily Fungo: Detroit Tigers Baseball ] — Now we know what the Tigers’ plans for Dontrelle Willis are: Lakeland. Willis had to agree to be sent to the minors, and Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski said he did so with a spirit of wanting to fix his problems. Manager Jim Leyland said a leading candidate to replace Willis in the rotation Satuday against Los Angeles is right-hander Eddie Bonine, who is 9-2 with Triple-A Toledo. Let’s hope this works.

Rotoprofessor — Dontrelle Willis According to John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press (click here for the article), the Detroit Tigers have demoted Dontrelle Willis to A-Ball after having a disasterous outing last night.  Lasting just 1.1 innings, he yielded 8 runs on 3 hits and 5 walks.  There was no real timetable given as to when he would next take the mound or when he could return to the majors. I’m not sure what else to say but wow.  The Tigers pitching, which was supposed to be a strength, is quickly crumbling.  With Jeremy Bonderman out for the year and Justin Verlander struggling still, ...
